I've never had a windows tablet. I have an iPad. But I can say this much, window is finicky with new technology. Remember the window phone? I think they tried that twice. If it doesn't take of they will abandon it and maybe revisit it later. Android is here dominating and it's not going anywhere. If I were you I would wait a while to see how much Microsoft is willing to invest to keep it going before I'd buy it.

But I think a windows tablet might have the capacity to surpass android and apple. If they stick with it.

personally, Id go for an android tab.altho I havent tried the windows 8. Theres just so much for android, and I dont trust windows 8 on PC yet ... but thats just my feelings on it. I may change my mind in a year or so, then again, I might not, Im loving what I have.

I was going to ask the same question about a month ago but said screw it and purchased my new toy, the Microsoft Surface.
It was either that or the iPad. I honestly know nothing about the Android.
While I'm a huge fan of Apple, and not so much of Microsoft, I wanted to try something a little different. Plus, with the windows software, I am able to do work on it.

So far I love it. I like being able to easily split the screen and quickly scroll through running apps. I've heard complaints regarding WiFi signal, but I have had no problems and it runs pretty quickly.
My only complaint is the store isn't near as large as Apple's, but I assumed that anyway. I believe Androids is also larger.
I do worry about the lifespan. Only time will tell on that.

I would not wish Windows 8 on my worst enemy. It is not and has never been ready for prime time. I bought a laptop aka notebook with Windows 8 thinking it would be like Windows 7 which I have to hold my nose to use. BIG MISTAKE !!
Windows 8 KNOWS your item belongs to it and you may only use it when it allows. I have had several occassions when I was working and more than one app decided to update and reboot. It did not ask. It TOLD you it was doing it's thing and you better stop what you were doing. In what we do, I'm DOM. I do not like a machine making me it's slave to it's time table and ruining what I am doing in the process.

Heaven help the folks who created it if I get in DOM gear and they are strapped to a bed. RACK may temporarily join the bitbucket Windows8 threw my efforts into.
Not to worry. Those folks are two time zones away and safe from my fustration.

He has an Android. He picked it for the apps.
