Bring it on! I have plenty of chicken soup in my pantry. While we're at it, come on SARS and Mad Cow, you two were suppose to have wiped us out years ago. What happened?

So how many people live in Asia again? What about just China? Out of all those people and only 227 of them caught the virus. From that, 129 died. The odds of catching this virus is anyones guess. So let's look at the odds of dying from Bird Flu. 227 divided by 129 rounds off to 1.76. I'm just not scared of the BIG BAD BIRD

Just as I had chicken for lunch also.. another good reason my butt is switching back vegetarian... the chicken gods have spoken..and I am done with the feathered things.
 
(ps.. I am not quite that neurotic.. I was going back veg anyway)

While you are entitled to your opinion.... I find that those with the "Bring it on" mentality to be those who become the real problem when things do go wrong.   How many times are those who played off hurricanes, disease, or other impending disaster the ones who have to be rescued in the end, putting their rescuers in danger.  The Bubonic Plague wiped out a good portion of Europe before it disappeared... something 'brought it on'.

I think it's very possible that the bird flu could have a major impact on many, it's also possible that it won't.  If I am prepared, but am not making myself hysterical with fear... then I have peace of mind, and should anything go wrong, I will be prepared while those who "know" it's a hoax learn the hard way.  When the scientists who have researched it are taking precautions with their own lives, that says a lot.  It's best to proceed with common sense.

By the way, the concern over bird flu is in the possibility of mutation and transfer from person to person... not from bird to person.

Yeah, and we're still concerend about the possibility of HIV mutating and going airborne.

So the bird flu might go person to person. Big whopteedo. Going from person to person is what our regular influenza bug does. If and when caught, I'll fight them just like I've always done with rest, whiskey, and chicken/tomato soup. I have a bed, a liter of BushMills, and some soup cans in the pantry. Belive me, I'm prepared.

It's hard to belive that people are going vegan over the bird flu scare and mad cow disease bull shit. When it comes to Mad Cow, it turns out that the virus that killed the infected was only related to the the viruse that makes our cows go Mad. They aren't even the same virus. They are just closely related.

Hmmmm, now to natural disasters. Well, I don't live near volcanos, the ocean, nor where earthquakes occur. Tornados are known to happen every now and then but we can't escape everything. However, I've yet to see a tornado.

Untill I die, which will be around 70 to 80 years from now, my steak will be rare. my chicken will be fried, and my doves will continue to be baked.

I want a dose of your cockiness.  I had it at 20...but it has since faded.

As to being prepared, I am not. The only thing I have plenty of is cluttery junk. :-)

Ild be more concerned with living in FL then the bird flue. [herricanes]

Things could be worse.  My entire family has taken the attitude that life is a mountain dew commercial. One is to have young pretty friends and pool parties all the time.
Life doesnt go that way. This mentality is driving me bonkers!

Status: offline 		Maybe it is the end of the world. I guess I should wrap my house in plastic and install anti micro/viral filters. I might as well buy a mask to have 24/7 and only wear contamination HAZMAT suits. I'll become the next Buble Boy keeping myself isolated, imprisoned, and safe from everything. Oh but old age is still going to catch up with me. Darn, I thought this idea was going to have me live forever. We're all garunteed to die so I'm willing to take the risk to live a little before I go.

I just wanted to note for the record...that my going veg has nothing to do with the animal disease scare... I have been veg a few times in my life..and my reasons are all animal care related.  I am not really one to jump on the fear bandwagon...but I will admit that it doesn't upset me that some do..... one less meat eater in my book..is good and I won't argue their reasoning for it.

I agree HisTicia.  I don't eat red meat or pork, and discourage those I know from consuming veal due to the horrific lives calves are made to endure to become someone'e veal marsala.  I am now considering giving up poultry as well, as the way chickens and turkeys are bred and raised is not only disgusting, but inhumane.

It's no harder to believe someone would go vegan over the bird flu, than to believe that someone would eat beef knowing that its unhealthy in all but small, lean amounts, it's expensive, and it used to peacefully graze in the sunlight till someone decided to slaughter it, and turn it into a greasy hamburger.

Feel free to eat whatever or whomever you like.  Nature is one thing... inhumane treatment of animals, so we humans who like to alter nature to the extreme for our dining pleasure, is another... that's My point.  The cows who are killed by wolves and  mountain lions at least live a life in the way nature intended them to.   If I were going to eat a side of cow as dinner, I would buy it from a company (as I do with chicken, though I am likely giving up poultry as well) who treat and kill their animals humanely.... (kill humanely for food consumption.... that sounds so wrong).  Anyway... I'm not preaching, you are free to do/think as you wish (wrong as I think it is... but that's just me), but I wanted to respond to your carnivorous question.  Hey, why don't you just eat those wolves and mountain lions instead?  They have fangs and feet... might be tasty, huh?

I will just as soon it goes for sale at the meat market. Anyhow, there meat is very tough to eat.
They are more lean than wild bore and deer. Anyhow, I will give it a try when the chance occurs.
