Im one of those people who needs humor and light moments in her life. I cannot function as a completely serious person all the time. I like to laugh, I love to make someone else laugh. But like DesFIP was saying, the senses of humor must be compatible.

I think it should be part of any well balanced rounded relationship, it's good to be able to laugh with and laugh at each other otherwise things would be pretty intense all the time.

I guess that, for some, D/s is by definition 'unbalanced' in some crucial way. There's the common theme in Femdom/malesub porn of a cold and humorless 'ice goddess', for instance.

Me, I can't do without humour, though. I've come to rely on it as my main means of achieving a connection with someone.

True; it's bad when something makes you laugh so hard that tears roll down your cheek, and your date responds with "that's stupid!".

TAFKAA -> RE: Humor? (1/20/2013 8:39:56 PM)

Women like men who make them laugh.

Men like women who laugh at their jokes.

Under no circumstances mix this up. Women are rarely good at generating humour. Just laugh at the right time and leave the jokes to us, ladies.

littlewonder -> RE: Humor? (1/20/2013 8:47:38 PM)

Master seems to find me quite funny but I couldn't tell a joke if my life depended on it. Instead he gets to laugh at my Pennsylvania Dutch accent which he finds hilarious and likes to remind me of how I pronounce certain words <ggrr...hrmph> and my sheer klutziness. He also seems to like my smart assed sarcastic remarks that I can make from time to time, usually towards those people who annoy although he says that's pretty much the entire planet. He's probably right. [;)]

TAFKAA -> RE: Humor? (1/20/2013 9:08:08 PM)

That's a viewpoint I can understand since my experience with everyday people is mediated by the fact that most of them are FUCKING MORONS. Seriously. From driving to navigating a supermarket with a shopping cart, most people have no awareness of their surroundings or any appreciation of how their idiocy is GETTING IN MY FUCKING WAY. I honestly gaze at the stupidity of everyday people with utter disbelief.

And politics. Don't get me started on politics. Most people lack the brain cells to even begin having a political discussion, let alone make a valid point in one.

littlewonder -> RE: Humor? (1/20/2013 9:09:39 PM)

It's one of the reasons I am trying to find a job where I can work alone, without having to be surrounded people. They eventually just annoy me and make me want to swat them away like gnats on a picnic.

TAFKAA -> RE: Humor? (1/20/2013 9:12:19 PM)

The world would be a better place if we could prevent stupid people from breeding. As it is, they breed like fucking rabbits which explains why we have so many reality show contestants AND viewers. Honey Boo Boo Child is the final and convincing expression of a genetic drift toward idiocy which has actually hit the bottom of the barrel.

littlewonder -> RE: Humor? (1/20/2013 9:29:30 PM)

Ever see the movie "Idiocracy? It reminds me of our society today lol.

It's not far off base at all and that's sad.

Duskypearls -> RE: Humor? (1/20/2013 9:50:50 PM)

Whether it be affectionate, playful sarcasm, intelligent dry humor or a rapier sharp wit, I consider well-honed humor to be foreplay, and most arousing. I live for laughter, am quite adept at making others laugh and adore those who can make me laugh. I think it one of lifes greatest pleasures.

You know, it's clear you and I never agree, but this statement is the truth! I want to murder everything and everyone that has anything to with that show! I have never watched it, have only seen commercials...and still have the need to kill.[sm=anger.gif]

Did the rules change? I thought all polls had to be posted in polls & random...

Pam

littlewonder -> RE: Humor? (1/21/2013 12:43:08 AM)

I think it changed ever since it was mentioned in the mods complaint thread.

As for Honey Boo Boo, I've never seen it, only the commercials and I can't understand for the life of me what the fascination is. She's just an....sorry, sue me....ugly kid like every other kid her age, goofing off for the cameras and being a smart ass and wanting whatever her parents will give her. I have vids of my own kid and nieces and nephews doing the same thing. Why don't they get paid like they do for it?

It makes no sense whatsoever.

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: Humor? (1/21/2013 2:11:23 AM)

fast reply

He doesn't have to be Mr Hilarious, but he does have to find the same sorts of things funny that I do. Not everyone has the verbal/social knack of telling jokes or making witty comments, but as long as we can laugh together it's ok.

I can't abide toilet humour or 'mean' humour (like practical jokes which hinge on making someone feel upset or bad) so if a guy thought that was funny we wouldn't be compatible.

That said, I do like a bit of good-natured banter and teasing so if someone can't cope with being playfully given a hard time, I'll find them dull.

Agreed.

Thank god we don't have television here at home so my exposure is limited.

HarryVanWinkle -> RE: Humor? (1/21/2013 2:33:01 PM)

I like doms who are laughing with me when they're not laughing at me. I vote D

I have a TV but I don't watch any current sitcoms, and I haven't even seen an ad for that show. I think I can live with that...

Level -> RE: Humor? (1/21/2013 3:12:58 PM)

I wished I'd never heard her... Imagine a winded, southern Shirley Temple, screeching shit like "y'all betteh redneckonize!!!"....

lmpishlilhellcat -> RE: Humor? (1/21/2013 3:16:00 PM)

The realization that I have a fabulous education and honey boo boo is richer and more famous than I will ever be, always hits me every time I hear her mouth.

cordeliasub -> RE: Humor? (1/21/2013 3:23:23 PM)

Bless her heart, she has to find her fame now because she will likely die of a stroke or heart attack by the time she's 30.....
