I can't answer the poll because I can't see either party as protagonist or antagonist - the conflict and story arc are missing.
That said, I think porn is very much geared up to invite the viewer to place himself in the male's position (and the vast majority of porn is aimed at men). So while the women are often caricatures of what's 'sexy' with huge boobs, tiny waists, pouty lips and lots of make up, the guys are a bit more 'everyman' and often have a bit of a belly or are not traditionally good looking. Because the male body is just a stand in so you can imagine your own penis in there. They help you out with this perspective by focusing on the genitals and the girl's face and body often, and rarely on the guy's face. I'd say if you are inserting yourself where the male actor is, the porn has done it's job.
For me, I suppose when I watch it I would be inserting myself wherever the female sub was. That's exactly the problem I have with most porn - like it in theory, but in reality it's always wrong. She makes stupid noises, or he says something dumb, or the set-up is ridiculous (better no plot that some of the cheesy dialog tacked on at the beginning) or she's supposed to be a school girl but is just wearing a tartan bra and gym skirt, or there's some act which marks it out as play-acting. I can't relate, too many things turn me off. The woman could never be me.
