Rush is a prog band? I remember when they opened for KISS in the 70's and early 80's.

As for the rest of the ones listed, does it say how old I am when I admit I have not heard of them?

Pretty much.

Goblin and Tangerine Dream are best known for soundtracks (Goblin did a lot of Argento's best films in the '70s and early '80s, and Dawn of the Dead, which I'm sure you've seen), VDGG are old farts from the '60s as are King Crimson and Soft Machine, and Caravan are a '70s outfit. The only band there who've formed in recorded history are Marillion, who were quite big in the mid '80s.

It's official. I'm old. I've only ever heard of one of the bands on that list.

Same here pretty much. I had heard OF King Crimson, but the only band I had heard was Rush...and to me their lead singer sounds like a Munchkin on steroids.
