Cheese shatters social structure in Norway.

quote:

A truckload of burning cheese has closed a road tunnel in Arctic Norway for the last six days. Some 27 tons of flaming brown cheese, or brunost, a Norwegian delicacy, blocked a 1.9-mile tunnel near the northern town of Narvik when it caught fire last Thursday. The fire was finally put out on Monday. Brunost is made from whey and contains up to 30 percent fat. “This high concentration of fat and sugar is almost like petrol if it gets hot enough,” said Viggo Berg, a policeman. Kjell Bjoern Vinje at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration said this was the first time that cheese had caught fire on Norwegian roads since he joined the administration 15 years ago. The tunnel will be closed for repairs for at least a week.

Why can't this terrible brown (is it immigrant?) cheese be banned?

A country done in by its cheese.   What a sad comment on social-democracies the world over, innit?

Ayn Randers in continuous throes of full on Grand Mal Siezures worldwide, I warrant.

'ow could it go so terribly terribly wrong? they wail.

How does this have anything to do with Ayn Rand?

She liked a bit of cheese on her cracker.

The ideal political-economic system is laissez-faire capitalism. It is a system where men deal with one another, not as victims and executioners, nor as masters and slaves, but as traders, by free, voluntary exchange to mutual benefit. It is a system where no man may obtain any values from others by resorting to physical force, and no man may initiate the use of physical force against others. The government acts only as a policeman that protects man’s rights; it uses physical force only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use, such as criminals or foreign invaders. In a system of full capitalism, there should be (but, historically, has not yet been) a complete separation of state and economics, in the same way and for the same reasons as the separation of state and church.

A little Objectivism here, and either John Galt was doing his industrial espionage to corner the cheese market, or the government will bear the brunt of cleaning this up, either of which puts the Ayn Randers in shitty diapers, innit?

So, you are claiming foul-play in the matter of the cheese igniting?

Or, are you claiming that Government will have to clean this up on the taxpayer's dime, with not compensation for that work by the responsible party?

You certainly do jump at the slightest provocation, even if there isn't any, don't you? You can twist damn near anything to suit your ideology, and the rest you simply run roughshod over in your assertions. I applaud you for your creativity. I just wish it was used to find solutions, rather than simply berating one side alone.

Well, technically, if you get cheese on fire it does indeed FRY...so you're still ok.

I bet the town smells wonderful...I love grilled cheese. mmmmmm

Cheese that is burning probably doesn't smell like grilled cheese. Six days of burning cheese might get a tad bit tiresome.
