Yes, this is a free website that so many enjoy, especially those that take full advantage of what it has to offer, meaning here amongst things the message boards where people may talk to help one another in all that is good in being human. But the face of this website is the personals section and being free to all, it is inviting perhaps the wrong kind of person for it is a fact these last few years there is a rise in those that seek communication with a price tag. This is inevitable for such a profession or indeed a part time activity for it is a profession that is perhaps the oldest in the history of humans for there always has been those that will sell their affection for the right price and I do see such in the right context as a benefit to society.

But this place I have been here some seven years and I have noticed the change and it is a change that I believe is doing this website harm and that exemplified by how many profiles there are in the personals that state most on there are of a professional nature and if not the usual fakes and how hard it is becoming to find real people.

But it is not just in the profiles that I am seeing this for I have heard it in my local kink community; ''don't bother with CM it's full of whores and scammers, you won't find genuine people there!!! '' and this is to newbies fresh on the scene.

Now I do understand on a free website cleaning up one's act can be a momentous task, but for this website to retain any credibility I do believe it does need to weed out the financial aspect, because there exists on the message boards a bona fide place for the professional to advertise their services, so, such on the other side to do what they desire, they should I believe be pointed to the relevant section of this website to sink of swim along with the honourable that play by the rules.

Does anyone else think this website is killing itself ?

Hello my friend... I have not seen you on the boards lately...and the subjects we are discussing are poorer for it.

I look at it this way... those who are looking for financial gain should have to pay to advertise on this site. They should be given their own section separated from non- financial profiles.

On the chat side of collarme there should be a forum for advertising services and posting outside of this forum should be a TOS violation.

No, I don't think it's killing itself. It's just going through another rotation cycle. I've been here from the very beginning of its creation and it goes through a cycle at least once every 2 or 3 years.

Like everything, it will pass and it will happen again in a few years, like always.

That's how it always goes on most websites, not just here, not just bdsm websites.

People come and go. Some take off for holidays, some have to go back to school or move or work gets busy or they just bored with the place for awhile and then a few years later they come back or new blood comes around.

You get old mods who leave. You get new mods who stay. You get complaints, you get changes, and then the whole thing starts all over again.

I've yet to see anything different.

the site is doing well enough that it sells ad space to its competitors. until something significantly reduces the sites profitability i doubt there will be any changes.

I don't care what happens to the other side. I never log in there and never check my cmail. I come straight to the forums. I could have a whole inbox full of gold bordered email and wouldn't know it. I don't even remember my password. I do see what you are saying about it but all of the fetish websites have gradually been diluted in this same fashion. It was inevitable. As the internet became more mainstream so did its darker corners. It's sad, in a way. Finding fetish online was a bit more meaningful when it took a little savvy and motivation. Same thing has happen to the live local events.

Thank you kdsub, I have been drifting in and out the last few weeks, I would perhaps like to be here more, but I find I don't have a lot to say these days as I have at last worked out my daemons and have achieved that elusive balance I looked so hard for and my questioning is largely over as the feeling is I have come home. But if it pleases others, I will make more of an effort.

It's the economy stupid - the streets are starting to fill with crack hoes again, shades of the 80's. Good 'ol conservative family values at work again.

i.e., people who never would have considered doing this are indeed doing it, or hoping to do it, and they have to start somewhere - this is one of the first sites that pops on google when you search for BDSM.

I have noticed that the younger slaves and subbies seem to have a great priority of "someone to take care of them" Not that that is wrong, but when you look at their lists of interests, not one BDSM item is checked, but fine dining, travel etc is.

i have said before that prodoms should have to advertise.. i am still new here but every profile you see is pro or fin..

prodommes are advertising for a business and should have to pay the same fees anyone else has to to advertise..

findoms are a joke.. and are EVERYWHERE on this site... yes it could be a real fetish if lets say youre in a relationship and get to control all the money.. but these random bitches on this site wanting tribute for nothing is not a fetish or its everyones because its called greed.. who doesnt want to be just handed money lol..

as a noobie to this site id have to say this site blows due to those two things wait three because the volunteer mod is either a fin or pro dom and will probably remove this post..

as far as the forums go they are more fun to troll than a video game... the people on them are uptight and closed minded.. but collarchat is far more active than collarme most likley because collarme is nothing but whores trying to sell themselves in one way or another for profit.. dont get me wrong because i am a stuck up prude but this site to me is way sub par aside from there forums which im impressed by..

Killing itself in what fashion?

I think people forget that CM really is a business. It seems logical to Me that the more profiles the site has on the other side, the more the site can get in it's advertising fees. If I owned the site, that's what I'd be looking at. Not this percentage of profiles are findom related or what the fake to real ratio comes out to be. It would be all about the site has X number of profiles that potentially see the ad that's being sold. The more profiles, the better the rate.

As for people in the community saying how the place is full of scammers, etc, I don't know where you've been but it's nothing new. Every lifestyle group that I've ever belonged to has had it's CM lovers and haters. Considering the number of people that I've actually met that are on the site, I can't complain about My results.

What about those that are both lifestyle and pros?
What do you suggest should be done with our profiles?

As far as I have seen if posts are made in other boards other than the professional services one they are deleted. Plus if you post a thread in the professional services board and don't have a CollarMe link on your site giving cross traffic. They do pull your ad.

I certainly don't have your experience meeting a lot of people from here, but I do agree with you.

The one thing that I find "different" lately is that so many more people are complaining than in the past. I have had a profile on this site (earlier permutations of me) since 2004. I've seen a lot of great stuff and great posters. I've seen a lot of people who are essentially nothing more than shit stirrers who never lasted long. Of course, there have always been people who bitch about the site, but lately, there seems to be a greater number of people who are complaining about the moderation, talking about what is wrong, how it should be "fixed," and all that bullshit.

CM isn't killing itself. Some of the members may be trying to, but as us old timers have always said, "the site was here before you, and will survive long after you have gone."

What I find funny about those who complain about scammers and fakes, have you ever have you ever left your home? They are there too. How do you deal with them when you find them? Going to "lifestyle" events? Don't think you will see them there too? You'd be wrong. You will find them just as easily there as on here or anywhere else in the entire world. What do you do? You ignore them. You walk away from them. You would do the exact same thing here.

Really, it's no different. Ignore, delete.

With all due respect to my fellow members...running financial scams on CM is like mugging hoboes. A fruitless endeavor.

I am thankful for the education I've received here, not to mention the entertainment. It's amateur hour. A chance to strengthen our immune systems, so to speak. We are that much better prepared for more serious fraudsters...which, incidentally, are the kind you'll find at those "cleaned up" sites which you seem to envy.

Very simple...two profiles one professional and the other not...The non professional profile would be free as it is now as long as they do not advertise their professional one.
