Nice video, Dusky. I have to admit, I at first thought it was hokey, but I am glad I stuck it out.

I used to wait tables in a restaurant. There was a man who came in daily for breakfast and for dinner. He was always good-natured and friendly. He used to leave the restaurant after dinner and stand outside of the entrance for a few minutes before getting in his car and going home.

One night, I walked outside while he was out there and I said "So why do you stand outside here every night?" I was expecting the usual jovial conversation. He looked at me and said "Well...I have nothing to go home to."

I was 18 at the time. That has always stuck with me. And that's why, even though some disagree with me, I teach my daughter that if someone is being mean, unfriendly, or oblivious, that person deserves compassion. You just never know what is going on in a person's life.

In a nutshell, my friends know my motto: Everyone is a train wreck.

That's a great vid. Makes you stop and think. Just another reason why those random acts of kindness mean so much to some folks. :)

I wasn't keen on the video - I thought it was a bit heavy handed and trite. But the message is a pleasant one. I always try to be kind to people and give them the benefit of the doubt. I think if we all take it upon ourselves to make someone's day a little brighter, the world will be a better place. What goes around, and all that.
