I think saying you ruined her childhood is pretty extreme. Do you really believe you have that kind of power over others??
As for scouts I refuse to purchase from parents specifically because of the positive experiences I got from those programs. Even if the kid calls in the sales pitch with mom in the background, they learn something!!
I learned that friday night about 6 is the time to take orders at college dorms & saturday or monday 8-10am is the time to have boxes for cash outside the residence halls. Greek houses, neighbors that run companies & just stomping out a territory before the other girls parents could get there won me all the top prizes. My record stood for almst 15 years. I was so thrilled by the kid that took it over (by double) that I had her do a sales/marketing video for company I worked for. If an 8 year old can do a sales script, so can you kind of thing.
Work ethic, eye contact, persuasive sales pitches are all supposed to be learned from these tasks. If mom takes it to work, dad buys enough for the pony ride or whatever...what is the kid learning? Hell I got a diabetic to buy 2 boxes from me solely because I promised to eat their share with my friends & enjoy them a lot! Old man was still laughing when he paid me. Though dude in a bath robe talking to little girls is more than a little icky!!
