Dear Mistresses,
My wife has slowly been getting into BSDM for my satisfaction. It has been about 6 months now and I think she is due for a good read, so she knows what to do with her little boy. My Mistress has reccommended the Mistress Manual and S/M 101. But would like some opions. Should I buy her both? Thanks for your input.

Dear draba, Ladies and Gentlemen;

My personal recommendations would be Screw the Roses, give me the thorns by, Master Phil Miller (deceased) and Molly Devon.  Another would be SM101 by Jay Wiseman.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs

G'evening all:

draba, I've read both of the books suggested by your lady. I whole heartedly endorse the selection of The Mistress Manual by Mistress Lorelei available from Greenery Press Publishers. Very informative and comes from a female dominant's viewpoint. I've slogged through Jay Wiseman's SM 101 and found it to be dull, pedantic and thoroughly self possessed. He's enamored of his own writing. I own Screw The Roses, but have yet to read it. I hear lovely things about it from various sources. If you can get a hold of Midori's The Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage, do so. I've gone to her classes and she writes as well as she presents. Special treat would be if you can find her shibari videos. I bet your lady would adore that. Good luck in your search for literary goodies.

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...

[:D]

I would recommend Elise Sutton's Female Domination book.... and her website is a great resource for a Female Dominant at the early stages of discovering her full potential.

I have read both books and thought they were good sources of information.  SM101 is one of the first books I read when I got into the scene.  It has a lot of good, basic information.  It does not have a Femdom focus.

The Mistress Manual is geared toward Female Dominants.  I liked the parts about the psychological aspects of Female Dominance and the five archetypes of Dominant Women.  I think it helped Me understand Myself and My individual style better.

Two other books that I would recommend to a Female Dominant relatively new to the lifestyle are "Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns," as mentioned in the other posts.  This book does not have a Femdom focus, but it is very informative, well-written, and fun to read.  I also liked "The Art of Sensual Female Dominance" by Claudia Varrin, which of course is geared to Female Dominants.  That book had a lot of practical how-to information a beginning Domme might find helpful.

I have to agree -- Claudia has several books on the market right now, all of which are fantastic representations of female dominance!

I'm a big believer that one book should ever be the answer. Best to sample a lot of things if you can afford it so you can see various opinions and come to your own conclusions. When you top/dom out of your own inner self, you do it in the most powerful and authoriative way possible.

I recommend these beyond what others have suggested:

"The Sexually Dominant Woman: a Workbook for Nervous Beginners" by Lady Green

"Safe, Sane, Consensual & Fun" by John Warren

"The Loving Dominant" by John Warren, PhD.

"The New Topping Book" by Dossie Easton & Janet Hardy

I agree with TammyJo. I liked John Warrens books too. I also love "Sensuous Magic: A Guide for Adventurous Lovers" by Pat Calfia I highly recommend this book.

Books are great but if you really want to learn join her in forums, go to some groups and make friends together in the scene. Nothing beats hands on expereince. You might also consider hiring someone for a few hours. I do consultations & I know John does too. I'm sure there are other that are packed with expereince and can give you one on one time.

Thank you all for your advice. Unfortunately my wife is too bashful to join a group, but we have talked about lessons and again she is not ready. I have a great Mistress who has been consulting me all along and she is willg to teach my wife if she is ever ready. My wife and I did talk and she is willing to learn more, so a book is appropriate. She also enjoys good bedtime reading. The internet may be a good source for her also.
All of you have been very helful, thanks again
