What does Homeland Security say is the way to protect yourself / fight back against a mass attacker or any attacker really? Why, this! “If you are caught out in the open and cannot conceal yourself or take cover, you might consider trying to overpower the shooter with whatever means are available,” says the narrator in the video, which shows an office worker pulling scissors out of a desk drawer. The video, titled “Options for Consideration,” also advises that people who get caught in an “active shooter” situation should run away, hide under a desk or take cover out of the line of fire. “To protect your hiding place, lock the door if you can. Block the door with heavy furniture,” recommends the male narrator, speaking in measured, authoritative tones. Other survival strategies promoted in the video include hiding “behind large items such as cabinets or desks. Remain quiet. Silence your cellphone or pager. Even the vibration setting can give away a hiding position.” But of course that's not what DHS recommends for itself - DHS and its components have a requirement for a 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense use in close quarters and / or when maximum concealment is required. So there it is, right in black and white: DHS enforcers need full-auto AR-15s which are "suitable for personal defense in close quarters" and for "maximum concealment." But if you or I make the same claim, suddenly we are branded lunatics by the fringe left and all the gun grabbers across America who apparently have no clue that their own government is arming up like never before. If someone were to grab a set of electric pruning shears per the first, would they be prosecuted for using an automatic weapon in self defense? [8\|] Given the appearance the government portrays I'd not be surprised.

What Obama's government wants for its people are personal defense firearms. What Obama's government wants to deny "We the people..." are assault weapons. Same gun. Double standard indeed.

DHS's is select fire (full auto or burst capable, a/k/a assault weapons) whereas the AR style the government wants to ban to "We the People" is semi-auto only (personal defense firearms). Congress is not required to obey the laws it passes on the American citizen...it exemps its self from them. Congress has its own bank, for example, where members are allowed to write 'bad checks', without penalty...at taxpayers expense. As for 'defense in close quarters' and 'maximum concealment', the AR-15 is hardly suited to either. Scissors are much easier to conceal. Funny, when a citizen has an AR-15, it's an 'assault weapon', but when a government agent has one, it's for 'defense'...and if we, as American citizens, follow this line of thinking, we are, indeed, lunatics(according to Webster). Not a double standard..Homeland Security is a Law Enforcement agency, they are govern, like many laws enforcement agencies, by laws and court rulings that do not apply to civilians. I have not seen the video, the protect yourself one, however it sound simular to a shows with Bear Grylls, and he is a former French Foreign Legioneer. I have watch those and they do provide some good advice.

I didnt see you flouncing around hysterically throwing words around that didnt quite match what was said nor any part of reality, when the teabagger government wanted to poison our drinking water and call it a jobs bill. It passed overwhelmingly, btw. Feinstein is not the Government. And the AR was not mentioned. So which hand is the dick in, and which hand is the whiskey bottle in, cuz its comin up empty by all appearances.

Feinstein is doing what she is paid to do in position as Senator, submited bills, consider she has been relected several times, she is doing what her constituents want her to do. Again DHS is a Law Enforcement agency, and there are other Law Enforcement agencies that assault weapons. The Fontana School District Law Enforcement, the school district has it's own police force, just got 10 real assault rifles. Are you going to complain about that as well, NRA wanted schools to have armed police on the grounds.

Just to be clear the weapons you are whining about are not assault rifles but PDW's which are more or less SMG's. And they are ideally suited for use by well trained professionals. That's why special forces love the P90. They have no place in the hands of civilians.
