I wish I could get into the juicing/smoothie thing. I think it might be a texture issue or something, because I just can't "get" into it.

I have thought about them..even getting a juicer. That sounds good.

I use a blender to make mine.
I want a better blender, one that I can toss a whole apple, carrot, ect in. Lol
However, the regular blender works too.

Does anyone know any good smoothies that can be made the night before and not be icky in the morning? I like to get up, run, shower and get out of the house, it'd be great to have a breakfast drink waiting in the fridge.

I've been wanting to do the smoothie thing as well but having to make one fresh each morning prevents me from actually doing it. It'd be great if it kept for a few days!

I'm trying to break my latte habit - something to help remove a few pounds before vacation. I think this may be harder than quitting smoking for me.

Athena,
I can ask my primary when we speak tonight.
I am sure he does.

If LilSquaw's primary doesn't have any suggestions, while it's not really a smoothie, myoplex light has some wonderful low fat, low cal, high protein drinks. The chocolate is the best.

I need to redo my workout. I am completely exhausted this week. I think it hormones, 10 hour days, and 2 hours of driving each day. Since my husband changed his work schedule, many of my workouts consist of walking the dogs. Which doesn't amount to much. It's a whole lot of cardio, but no weight routines. I just found an 8 minute TRX circuit so I'm hoping to be able to pull that off after or before walking the dogs. I skipped my workout tonight, but still ate light. I feel slightly guilty, but at least proud of how I ate.

I portion out my smoothie ingredients into freezer bags so I have a weeks worth ready to go. I put 2 cups of water in the blender, add a bag and blend away. It makes it super quick and mindless for my sleepy brain :)

I don't use this recipe but this is a good write up. smoothie freezer bags

Athena,
You have mail on the other side with a recipe. :)

TallullahHk,
I make up my fruit bags (1 c of frozen fruit and a banana) for a couple of weeks at a time.
However, because of what I put in mine (other than that ) I do have to grab & measure some things on the spot.

Thanks LilSquaw for the recipe.

Tallullah - that's a great idea and I can't believe I never thought of that.

Impish - I don't think we have that brand unfortunately. I do have the occasional protein drink but I find most of them have a floury sort of aftertaste.

I'm curious what you add that can't be frozen.

I Admit, I'm trying to capitalise on some recent efforts workout wise, to claw my way into a higher weight/resistance level. The body is near the limit where "ghost in the shell" style, I'm going to start loesing limbs soon... I'm trying to ease into the higher stresses as carefully as possible but I can feel how close another injury is... Slowwww and steadyyy is my motto at the moment... Espically when stretching...

I'm now starting to get comfortable with the beach stuff I've been doing aswell, I still need a nap when I get home, but the legs aren't dead the next day now. Which is progress. Sweet sweet progress.

I add fresh spinach, kale or avocado, and my plain greek yogurt.

I just read an article about this. You wear weights on your ankles. Apparently it's supposed to be a really good workout. Unfortunately, I could just see my klutzy self causing self harm or something.

FR

Athena, I make my smoothies a day or two early sometimes, since my housemates aren't always on the same shift as me and a blender in the mornings isn't appreciated. I make my shakes, and put them in mason jars in the fridge. Then in the morning all it takes is a quick shake to mix it back up, and I'm good to go. It looks weird when it's separated, and I don't trust it after a couple of days, but next day is fine. I used to make them the night before and take them to work with me that way. As long as it's in the fridge, you should be good.

You can freeze all of those in the bags too! I do with great results

I make yogurt cubes in ice cube trays. Pop them out when frozen and distribute among the bags. The greens freeze beautifully, too.

I don't add avocado to my smoothies (yet!) but you can smash them up with a bit of lemon and freeze just like the yogurt.

It really does make it super easy.

ETA: I hate the layout of this site, but I refer to it a lot...she has some really great tips Green Thickies

Which would be more embarrassing: the workout or the camel toe?
