Hello! LOL, it appears there is a system in place that the icon above the avatar changes depending on post count. I had a vanilla ice-cream cone in the beginning as well.

Welcome...I have to say this because it drives me nuts...why stick your tongue out when having your picture taken? You are probably a nice guy, but... It is kind of like the women who insist in doing duck lips in their pics.

Welcome, and enjoy your stay! And I guess it's just his preference. I don't really see that much of a problem with it. Pictures are just supposed to show a little of what you look like, and his picture accomplishes that. It may just have been the only one he felt comfortable posting with.
