I don't know if it's real or fake but I think what we're supposed to glean from this photo is that uncle Barry is NOT wanting to take our guns away from us. He likes guns. He uses them all the time.

I remember, four years ago, hearing about how often he went down to camp David to shoot around ... oh ... a round of golf ? Oh. Never mind.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

I knew that DaddySatyr, but I figured I wasn't going to change any paranoid's mind anyway.

As far as faked, no, I believe it is a real photo. It does appear, though, that he is not used to/uncomfortable with, shooting. When I first learned how to fire a rifle, I looked like that; awkward and uncomfortable.

I think that's probably true. I think him shooting "all the time" was probably a bit of an exaggeration. It's probably just something he's done a few times at Camp David to have fun, and his media people thought it made a good photo op.

But the idea that it's some big conspiracy is pretty ridiculous. What would even be the point of faking it?

TAFKAA -> RE: Is this photo faked? (2/7/2013 2:07:18 AM)

Honestly, I post about the connection between conspiracy theorists and gun nuttiness and what do I see not a week later? A gun nut with a conspiracy theory about whether a photo of the president firing a shotgun is real or fake.

How is it possible to not see the utter madness of this proposition?

Oh... and the dude with the 28 years of military experience and 40 years of shooting experience.... apparently can't spot recoil in a photo and apparently doesn't know that shotguns can be and are ported. I think that kind of sums up much of the so-called 'expertise' being used to evaluate pretty much everything remotely P&R related.

Oh, and by the way, that porting looks sure as shit as though it's on top of the barrel. The idea that it's off to one side is an illusion caused by the muzzle rise.

Are you referring to this?

I'm having trouble buying this photo...

I dunno. What do you think?

Methinks I detect a gun-phobic conspiracy theorist.

No TRUE gun nut (or Scotsman) could fail to recognize that for anything other than what it is.
