In a recent thread, I made the suggestion about a section of casual banter be set up for the exchange of recipes. Is that possible? Just curious, not demanding or anything....

Besides I dont have anything personal of yours to make a voodoo doll.

I agree. We need an easy place to find the classic recipes in this all-time favorite.

A recipe forum would be great!

Even better would be to divide it into sections:

Beef
Poultry
Fish
Pork
Vegetarian
side dishes
dessert
slow cooker

Any other sections I missed?

I could melt water.

I'm the wrong guy to ask.

I'd like to see one for drinks (not necessarily alcoholic ones). They might be considered redundant, but a section just for BBQ might be nice, and one for holiday-centric foods. (I'm thinking along the lines of lefse and lutefisk here...)

Hey, Jeff! I got my login to work! (By accidentally using a password which isn't the password for my "other side" account...)

Drinks is good. Lots of good non-alcoholic (or boozy, lol) frozen drink recipes, smoothies, etc.

Holiday foods and BBQ as well.

Although with the BBQ, there could easily be one thread for BBQ in each entree section.

I figured recipes would cover the entire gambit, main courses, deserts, appetizers, drinks, snacks all of it.

It definitely could be done with one forum, but if it's split up a bit it would become much easier to find a recipe for something specific which one happens to have on hand.

How ever it ends up, it's a great idea and I'm all for it. Good food is a wonderful thing, and should be shared when the opportunity arises.

That is a splendid idea! (In my British voice)
Every single night when we want to cook, we never know what to cook. So recipes would be cool!

When I'm lacking inspiration, I put random ingredients that I have in the frig into allrecipees.com and see what they come up with :)

Well yes, but it is possible to have sub sections in a topic to make searching for something easier.

Think about it, do you want to have to go through pages and pages of slow cooker recipes to find a dessert?

Hi Jeff.

I don't know if this helps, but there are a couple of really long threads that are full of all kinds of recipes. Maybe those past threads could be compiled in some way? Of course, I'm not volunteering the Mods to do it for us. Links could always be used to add the old ones.

If we can't have a section, we could always make it a continuous thread. All you have to do to keep a thread current is to add a new recipe to it every couple of weeks.

(Said with the knowledge that I'm not the most creative cook so I'm not big in the recipe department.)

I think the hope for many of us is to not have to go through pages and pages of a thread to find something. Some of those threads in humor or stupidity (or whatever PC thing they call it now) are more than a thousand pages long. I know I wouldn't bother going through a thousand pages looking for a cookie recipe.

Since you mention humor, I really miss the humor section. I used to rely on that for picking up new jokes. And on the subject of searching, I'll also comment that the Search function is fucked. I can't tell you how many times I've searched for something, come up empty, and had to find it by going through page after page of thread after thread relying on my browser's page search to locate the post I wanted.

I understand. I just happen to know from personal taste testing that some of those selections from the past are darn good. I'll personally vouch for some easy slow cooked meatballs and a shrimp spread from Lance that was divine. There was a mushroom soup back there that was simply heaven and those amazing chocolate cookies.

Nobody could try them all but some of them are simply delicious!
