Since I am poking fun at some people here, I decided to put this in the Humor section.

Reading some of the threads about creationism vs evolution got me to thinking.

For those of you who may not know:

In an attempt to counter scientific refutation of their religion, specifically evolution's refutation of the Book of Genesis, conservative Christians came up with "Creation Science" (also known as creationism) which they touted as a scientific alternative to evolution and which they sought to have taught in the public schools.

The 1987 case, Edwards v. Aguillard, put the kibosh on that, declaring that creationism sought to advance a religious purpose.

Whatever criticisms you may have of conservative Christians, they are not quitters. They huddled together, brainstormed, and came up with a new name... Intelligent Design. This, they hoped, would sneak their religious intent by the courts. But, as my Grandfather would have said, "if you pour perfume on a piece of shit and wrap it in a pretty pink bow... it's still a piece of shit."

Federal Judge John E. Jones III apparently thought so as well. In the 2004 case Kitzmiller v. Dover, he essentially ruled that Intelligent Design and Creationism were the same thing. Although the Dover case doesn't carry the same weight as a Supreme Court ruling (it is possible that another federal judge may rule differently, thus forcing a Supreme Court showdown) it is still a major blow to the creationists. Even a cursory scan of their websites like the Discovery Institute, Answers in Genesis, and Consevapedia shows how they are still reeling from the decision as they squawk indignation and engage in name calling. Clearly, they are very upset.

I'm actually starting to feel sorry for them.

I mean, they keep working their butts off trying to sneak their religion into the public school science classes and they keep getting shot down.

I'm sure they will come up with a new name to hide their crap behind but I think we should be magnanimous and help them out. I think we should help them come up with a new name to hide behind... at least until that gets shot down by the courts.

So, since "Creation Science" and "Intelligent Design" are out I suggest... "Directed Construction."

Some other ideas I came up with:

"Planned Intentions"

"Clever Edifice"

and

"Just shut the fuck up you heathen, Hell bound, atheists and accept the fact that God did it!"

Okay, that last one might not fly. Anyone else got any ideas?

Yeah, I know, and that is most unfortunate.

No, like Hill said, they are quite serious... which makes them rather dangerous. But don't let that stop you from jumping in now and then to laugh (or sometimes cry) at their latest foray into ignorance.

I feel bad for American Conservatives, I do. THAT is what they have to work with?! American Conservatives who do subscribe to such beliefs must be embarrassed.

Edited to say I like your avatar!
