Try rubbing a dry washcloth all over Mary, then use that washcloth to rub her scent all over William.

Ok, I just tried it. Neither of them was thrilled, but I guess we'll see what happens!

It may or may not work, but give it time, and it may help if done multiple times. Sounds like Mary, like some cats, become extremely disturbed when their buddies come back from the vet with the smell of fear, other animals, other humans, drugs, rubbing alcohol, etc., and give that buddie a hard time, as if it's the enemy. It may take a while for her to settle down on her own.

My other suggestion would be Rescue Remedy for them both, perhaps more for Mary until she settles down.

What are the odds of taking them both next time? That'll teach her! Seriously though, if she's all funky-smelling, too, she can hardly hold it against him. Can she?

She's female AND a cat....she can hold anything against ANYONE!

Fortunately, mine just sniffed and sneezed when I brought Bitty back from an overnight visit for his eye surgery. But then, they weren't sure what to make of him, since not only did he smell funny, but had a satellite dish on! Their looks were all "WTF???? Is that thing permanent?"

Notsweet -> RE: Bad kitty. Bad. (2/7/2013 8:59:05 PM)

I love satellite dish head cats. It feels good, like revenge. Of course, I say this and cry all the way to the vet.
And after, when I find out it's a wee-wee problem, I remember why I have trouble with men.
Just kidding. Maybe.

Might work, but I'm not so sure I'd endorse that idea. If Mary is a bit sensitive or hinky (which is what she may be showing she is now), both of them going might push her over the edge and make her crankier than ever. Want two kookie kats at the same time? You know them better than I, so it's your choice.

Part of me thinks you were actually kidding with that suggestion.

Notsweet -> RE: Bad kitty. Bad. (2/7/2013 9:59:21 PM)

They seem to have calmed down to their regular daily fighting. There's no hissing anymore, so that's always a positive sign. Also, they're sleeping together instead of fighting on me.
Think the washcloth worked! Thanks, DuskyPearls!

tommonymous -> RE: Bad kitty. Bad. (2/8/2013 3:58:50 PM)

Part of me was kidding. But in seriousness: OP already had two kookie cats, hence the post. If this kind of behavior gets to be the norm after a vet visit, it might actually be worth trying.

I LOVE sea monkeys. Ant farms, too.

I know, I know, I'm that special.

Your mention of sea monkeys reminds me of a "Family Guy" episode and the big lie a bunch of kids go through...ha ha...I found this pic online about it....In the end they are just brine shrimp and don't live interesting lives and have smiling faces!

I'm definitely a Family Guy kind of guy. Though I think they stretch jokes out too long too frequently. I understand the thinking, just disagree with it.

DesFIP -> RE: Bad kitty. Bad. (2/8/2013 9:01:29 PM)

About the cardinal. We had a psychotic robin who did this a couple of years back, at dawn at the windows next to my bed. We taped window screen to the outside of the windows and it stopped him seeing his reflection.

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: Bad kitty. Bad. (2/9/2013 7:31:43 PM)

I know I may be late to the party here but I think sea monkeys should be allowed to live in bigger bowls.

Like the Pacific ocean.

That's where they can grow into something useful. Like etouffee.

tommonymous -> RE: Bad kitty. Bad. (2/9/2013 7:40:23 PM)

You make a good point. But there's always the chance to find out that you got the first batch of poo-flingers, and all they needed was a bigger bowl.

brine shrimp can't live in the Pacific Ocean. it isn't salty enough. They only live in very salty lakes like the Great Salt Lake in Utah. They also don't grow big enough to be worth eating directly although they do make excellent feed for some fish farms.

Toysinbabeland -> RE: Bad kitty. Bad. (2/9/2013 8:26:27 PM)

Sea monkeys don't smile?
Next you are going to tell me that they aren't simian either.

So you tamed an enflamed pussy by rubbing it with a washcloth.    I'll have to remember that trick.

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: Bad kitty. Bad. (2/9/2013 8:42:55 PM)

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And there are actually animals in Australia that aren't poisonous. Still funny though.

Yes, I do laugh at my own jokes. Wait. Why are you all edging away from me?

OMG, that is funny, Muttling. Good one!
