This story is chock-full of awesome. Good for him, and may he reach his goal. The 12th paragraph down is heartbreaking.

Heartbreaking, but true. When losing 100 lbs or more, first make sure funds are available for surgery to remove the loose skin. Otherwise, you look just as bad or even worse than you did before losing the weight. Who wants to go through all that hard work only to look worse as a result? That's why I get so mad when I see before and after photos on weight loss infomercials. They conveniently leave out the loose skin dilemma.

Yes, that very much does happen. I may have numbered the paragraphs incorrectly, though. I'm talking the paragraph that describes his traumatic childhood.

And yes those infomercials are highly misleading on many levels.
