I do not know a single Evangelical Christian who would support this. I am sure there are some somewhere, but I do not think it is the norm. That being said, this story is horrible. And I am sure anyone who dissented would have been suddenly convicted of being a witch as well. This kind of thing is so so sad. Then again, in our own country, though we do not burn people at the stake, we sure do like to stick it to people we do not understand or find different.

I don't either and I think you are right that it is not the norm. I also don't know anyone on the right who thinks that way. There are assholes in every group you can think of. It's a shame that the law enforcement over there didn't make enough of an effort to find the ones who were involved. People make me sick sometimes. I also find it sick that others will use this incident to further their agenda of hate against anyone who doesn't think the same way they do. Sadly some of the posters on here can't pass up a thread without taking a swipe at the other side.

I wondered if it was because you were a very young person, or someone from another country, but you don't have a profile so none of us can know.

But they are there and ignoring it is wrong.

I remember right after 911, there were stories of brown skinned people being killed because someone thought that they were muslims. In one case, they guy was a Sikh. The last time I checked, they have had their own conflicts with Islam and Muslims. Not that all Muslims are terrorists. Im just pointing out ignorance that seems to go with intolerance.

saw that as a big fuss bout a cultural exchange i reckon. from the boston herald http://cepgl.blogspot.com/2008/09/sarah-palin-witchcraft-flap-all-smoke.html

quote:

The video of a Kenyan bishop asking Jesus to protect Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin from "witchcraft" has turned into a political witch hunt, says one Harvard expert who found "nothing unusual" about the blessing.

"He was giving an African prayer to an American Christian," said Jacob K. Olupona, a Harvard African studies professor. "His prayer reflects his own background and his own training and his own world view. America may not believe in witchcraft, but witcraft is a reality (in Africa)."

Catholic League President Bill Donohue echoed that sentiment, saying witchcraft is a "sad reality" in Kenya that has resulted in scores of deaths.

they wouldn't but can ya even say many evangelicals defend the broad cultural practice r whitewash it?

The creep is an African witch hunter...admittedly so.

Tantamount to the pogroms in russia and/or the lawless mid-evil times.

That Palin is a superstitious kook who`s comments were fairytale doesn`t take away from the fact that she and other fundies are exporting their bigotry and hate to a place that has quite enough already.

And you`ll need more than a blog to have credibility here........FYI...you and I can have a blog too......they`re meaningless.

There`s no question that this hateful bile is coming from the rightist.....the fundies etc...

What`s at question is the willful ignorance toward it.

yup no argument there. its ugly. da argument is how much the evangalists are involved in promoting defending r whitewashing witchcraft practices. havent seen r heard anything bout that.

Hundreds of witnesses couldn't stop it? Despite all the pictures, nobody has been arrested? WTF

With witch hunts - if you take the side of one, you are one, and you are next. I think people can be in such fear that they just do not dare intervene. Extremely hard to change.

There's all kinds of insanity happening in foreign countries. Torturing, stonings, mutilations, beheadings, all fashion of murders. In many cases it becomes a form of entertainment for people.... like hangings were in the Old West, or gladiators in arenas once were.
People not only bring their children along, but food, and drink.

Used to be like that in Europe in medieval times, and in US in the 60's.

I'm sure the good Lord weeps in frustration over the actions of his children in his name. No wonder he does not appear to us.

I'm sure if the lord were truly "good" he would have stopped his 'children' doing such things like any decent parent would.

And that is pretty much why I don't believe he exists.

He will never appear to me anyway coz I don't follow the bible, the teachings or any other 'holy' book.

His appearance has nothing to do with the actions of his children whatsoever.
Nor is he responsible for how his children act towards one another.
Every human being is given something called "free will." It will be how we decided to live our lives that will be judged.
