Why do most people assume that anyone who is being 'trained' is a sub?

Way back when before Al Gore invented the internet and made everyone an instant 'expert', beginning Doms were frequently mentored by someone more experienced. Yeah, I'd say that I was 'trained' in some things.

Personally, I'm inclined to say that in some areas of BDSM there is training that is necessary, especially with someone who is new to it all.

When I was first roped into Bondage (to use a particular example and apologies for the unintended pun), it was important for me to be told and taught to speak up if I experienced tingles or cramp of numbness. Likewise it was important to have been shown how to correctly bind another person and unbind them more importantly. Whether that can be called training is another matter.

I would add that in the past I've been asked to learn certain protocols for use during a scene, but most of that was common sense (no sitting on furniture, kneel, make direct eye contact when spoken to). It was a way of extending bondage without any physical bonds, and I did/do enjoy it.

I guess that actually, I wouldn't use training as a description, rather teaching/learning as some others have.

That's not to say that training is not possible. One friend I know who is also sub claims (I'm not sure of how true this is) that he cannot orgasm when he is not wearing a collar. He claims that he has to wear a collar in order to achieve a satisfying orgasm. Whilst I'm unsure if that's even possible, it does present a curiosity to me that makes me wonder if such a thing is possible, and why someone would want to achieve it.

I would agree, but: 1) It really does get shoved down the female submissive's throat (and not in a good way, Ron) A lot of male Dom profiles focus on it and even some out in the community. 2) I think mentoring is a great thing from someone on the same side of the kneel. But, we've all seen the reaction here when we suggest it.
