I've run out of shows to watch. I want to know what you've enjoyed lately.

Tell me what your favourite shows are - old and new. It doesn't matter if they're not on air anymore, I can always hunt for box sets or places I can watch online.

I'm curious as to what people's tastes are.

Danke!

I'm watching the Monday Mornings pilot right now. Not bad.

Oh, and the FX lineup on Thursday night is red hot. Archer, Legit, Totally Biased, Brand X.

I'm also getting kind of addicted to The Americans, though I didn't think I would.

Level -> RE: What are you watching? Recommendations please. (2/10/2013 8:36:31 AM)

Justified, The Following, Southland, Person of Interest, NCIS, Arrested Development, Longmire.

Older shows, Oz, The Wire, NYPD Blue.

ShaharThorne -> RE: What are you watching? Recommendations please. (2/10/2013 8:46:55 AM)

NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Property Brothers (fraternal twins...meow!), Love it or List it. Would like to watch Income Property but that cuts into my NCIS: LA time. CSI, CSI NY, Blue Bloods...

We are mainly DIY fans and I love Abby with her tattoos.

CSI, CSI NY, occasionally CSI Miami if nothing else is on. Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, Metalist, NCIS, NCIS LA, Chopped and Worlds Worst Cook. Big Bang Theory, How I met your mother . That's all I can think of at the moment.

Baroana -> RE: What are you watching? Recommendations please. (2/10/2013 8:50:46 AM)

Actually, having watched the rest of Monday Mornings, I have to amend my recommendation. Don't watch this show if you are a hypochondriac or if you have any trust issues with doctors.

CSI box sets are my illness go-to. Hours of entertainment
Big bang
Downtown abbey (BBC)
Don't watch much regular TV at all but those 3 are the ones I really enjoy.

If you're looking for series, especially older try north & south its an 80's mini series based on john jakes books. Launched patrick swayze's career & in my mind still the only thing that shows his full acting range. Little known fact horse he rides off to west point obn was his personal arabian stallion Tamman

Wow lots of votes for CSI. I need to know though before I watch it, how realistic are the investigation procedures? It's a real pet hate of mine when people are walking round crime scenes in skirt-suits with their hair loose.

They definitely do that, and they also combine the cop role with the lab role.

I don't have cable or satellite TV. And there are very few sitcoms and reality shows I can get into.

But I enjoy watching Person of Interest, Big Bang Theory, Shark Tank, (some) CSIs, The Amazing Race, Red Green, Are you Being Served.

You being serious Athena??

Man oh man... I don't even get time to watch any TV let alone get bored and run out of things to watch!

I try to catch up with Dr Who on the iPlayer about once a week - if I have time to remember.
When the F1 is on I make a point of watching it and the qualifiers.

Apart from that, the only time I get to see any TV is when I go to bed at silly o'clock in the morning and by then we have the BBC News on to fall asleep on.

Duskypearls -> RE: What are you watching? Recommendations please. (2/10/2013 9:16:16 AM)

Loved Downton Abbey, Longmire, Breaking Bad and Kevin Spacey's new series, House of Cards.

Some foreign (to me) shows that I like are:

"The IT Crowd," British, available on Netflix.

"Pasta," Korean, available on Netflix and Crunchyroll.com

Faceoff Syfy

Chopped Food network

Chef Wanted Food network

Top Chef Bravo

I love Little britain and Come fly with me on Netflix (both are british)

Moonhead -> RE: What are you watching? Recommendations please. (2/10/2013 9:24:31 AM)

There are box sets of the original Monkey and The Water margins series from the '70s: awe inspiring (and frequently hilarious) Japanese send ups of Chinese mythology, overdubbed by translators and voice actors who were obviously having a whale of a time.

It's probably a region two DVD only, but the original '80s BBC version of Edge Of Darkness is one of the finest television dramas ever filmed.

LaTigresse -> RE: What are you watching? Recommendations please. (2/10/2013 9:29:21 AM)

No regular television here anymore. All DVDs or VHS. Generic Dude love love loves his old MASH DVDs as well as The Seinfeld Show. We also watch a lot of movies.

Last night was 'Chicago Overcoat' and 'Savages'. Savages was better than expected, but I probably won't buy it unless I see it in the $5 bin.

This morning G.D. was watching an old, made in Spain, Eastwood western.

Sometime later we have, "Julie and Julia' 'Slave' and 'Snow White and the Huntsman', to watch.

Yep, I'm serious. 18 months ago I was working two jobs, finishing my degree, directing a play and doing various admin duties as a volunteer for the local theatre. Then I had a baby and we moved - no more theatre, left both my jobs, graduated.... I don't know what to do with myself.

I have quite a lot of hobbies and I make a point of not putting the TV on during the day when the baby is up, but still, I'm not used to having free time. Frankly I'm lost. At the moment I'm busying myself with some charity projects (knitting for preemies in the NICU and putting together activity packs for sick kids through post-pals), and I try to make toys and activities for the baby instead of buying them. But a lot of that is time consuming but not very taxing on the brain, so I tend to watch box sets while I do it.

CSI irritates me because realistically crime scenes, investigations, and forensics in general do not work like that. You won't see someone going to a crime scene in heels, hair down, and NOTHING ever works that fast. In real life there are divisions. Someone who collects the evidence typically won't test it. There are DNA/biology, toxicology, trace, latent prints, firearms, and questioned documents. Sometimes a few of those will be combined depending on the state. Oh yeah, there's a ton of paperwork involved, phone calls, and court time. It depends on the State and the agency.

It cracks me up when people get pissed at the criminal justice system for taking so long. You can't just whip a lab test out in 40 minutes. Some of those tests literally take 4 days to run and then 2 weeks to get through all the data and paperwork. Add in dealing with the court system and law enforcement agencies and it all takes time.

If they made a real show about the day to day in a crime lab nobody would watch, because it would be boring!

TheLilSquaw -> RE: What are you watching? Recommendations please. (2/10/2013 10:00:59 AM)

Walking Dead Series (Sunday nights)
Sons of Anarchy (waiting for new session)
Tom & Jerry
Loony Tunes (I wake up to this every morning)
NCIS (I've seen them ALL)
Being Human
Lost Girl
Restaurant Rescue
Bar Rescue

There is also another one, where a successful restaurant / bar owner comes in and they set up hidden cameras in a bar / restaurant and watch employees. To figure out why the business if failing. I can't remember the name ATM.
