So! As I was peeling a bunch o' potatos for this evenings meal..a question dawned upon me. I was curious as to if Domly people (Mainly Mistresses, because cooking has been a long stereotype thing among women.) thought that cooking was a submissive gesture or if their Domly selves liked cooking rather than there sub?

I can honestly say even with me being a slave, I love cooking. If I was a Dom, switch, sub whatever...I don't think I could give it up. I look forward to reading your responces. Have fun kiddies!

I love to cook most of the time -- its a nice form of almost immediate gratification -- cook it and eat it!

But I have learned that Fox can cook and he usually cooks one meal a week and helps me about 50% of the time when I tell him too.

I love to cook and do it often.  Most of the meals are prepared by me.  However, the BBQ grill is definitely his domain and he's not bad in the kitchen either.  Most days it just depends on who is in the mood to cook.  It is not something that is either of our duty.  We both enjoy it so just do it as we like.

Funny that I was just thinking about this today.  My mind is so powerful!
I don't mind cooking.  I enjoy it.  That said, I enjoy it a lot more when I know I don't have to do it!  *Smile*  I know one Domina who loves to cook, and even makes it clear in Her profile that the kitchen is Her domain.
For Me, since I prefer simple, comfort food, type meals, I don't place a great deal of emphasis on anything fancy.  If I am in the mood, I will make a pot roast, or cook up a potful of split pea soup.  I have even been known to make a full Mexican meal from scratch.  And I would also enjoy cooking together.  I don't like peeling the potatoes, so that can be his job!  Along with the clean up.
I don't pay attention to the stereotype of the "little, apron clad woman in the kitchen".  It is still around, but as long as it is not expected in My household, then I don't bother about it.   For Me, cooking is a creative thing that I am good at, so why would I completely give it up?  It brings Me pleasure...when I am in the mood, of course!

It's something that I enjoy and wouldn't want to give up.

Peeling potatoes...I can delegate that and not miss it, lol.

My slave will play bartender and DJ while I'm cooking so we always have a lot of fun.  But the best thing is he gets to rest and relax while I'm in the kitchen so he can be ready for the mess I have left in my wake ;)

potatoes don't bother me at all...easy peasy.  But the onions...he can do those.  Standing a good distance away I can hurl insults at him like "you're a bad BAD cook" and when he turns around with tears in his eyes...

Cooking and housework are two things I've just never liked - I pay out for both.

Every Thursday at high noon, a lady dressed in baggy clothes, driving a mini-van, pulls up in the driveway and gets out, carrying an Oreck, a long feather duster and a bottle of Windex.

i'm really dissapointed to hear the women's responses to this question. As a potential sub and an excellent cook, I was hoping that would be the sub's job.

I NEVER cook...never ever...No, wait. I do Christmas, so once a year. I'm pretty flexible about having my submissive's and puppy's service suit the individual, but they both must feed me. lol And I think naked men in aprons are hot!

I do all the cooking in the house and not just because I adore cooking.. Himself and I are trying to avoid food poisoning as well.. if he were to do the cooking that would be a distinct possibility. ::chuckles::

Cooking was always done by the males in the family so thats who I expect to cook. I can prepare a good tasting meal sure. But when there is a male around to do it I would rather sit and watch. But hard for me to break the habit of cleaning as they cook. Hate a dirty kitchen. If you stir the sauce and set the spoon down, when you go to reach for it again, I've already grabbed, washed and put it away.

I am a Fem Dom and a (extremely picky)Chef.    I have cooked all of my life, and have never aquainted cooking with being a submissive. From time to time I will assign a cooking task to my subs/or slaves.  But for the most part....I have such a passion for the culinary arts that I am very hard to please...so if I want it done right, I do it myself.

Personally, I love to cook and do so often.  What I don't like, however, is cleaning.  The ideal situation is for Me to do the cooking, and the sub to do all of the cleaning up.

If I enjoyed cooking, it would be a domly thing to do...  Since I don't enjoy it, I'm looking for a wifely sub/slave, and will let him know that will probably be among one of his jobs at home.  Truthfully, I've never been one to strive for greatness at housework/housewife;  always considered it too hard, and not rewarding enough; at least now I can shamelessly call my man a slave as he does it, since I don't enjoy it.  However it's not one of those important deal makers/breakers either way.

The boy is regulated to prep and clean-up.  If he was in charge of
cooking we would both starve!  Since I like to cook and he likes to
go out we alternate between the two.  This arrangement works well.
Now I have had a houseboy who liked cooking and that was fine too.
Flexibility is a good virtue.

I hate cooking. I really can’t think of another domestic duty that I dislike more. I’d rather change the kitty litter, clean the toilet, do the laundry…
In fact, I hate the entire kitchen. About the only reason I wander into the kitchen is for coffee.
I’m in hopes that if I ever start finding submissives again, one of them will be a kitchen lover. I will be more than happy to hand over the entire kitchen to them. They will do all the cooking in there, all the cleaning, all the grocery shopping. They can even decorate it however they want.

IMO, IMHO, YMMV, AFAIK, to me, I see it as, from my perspective, it's been my experience, I only speak for myself, (and all other disclaimers here).

At this time I only cook because I have no one to do it for Me.  But one of things I'm requiring during My search is that they be well versed in the kitchen.  I don't expect a 5 star meal every night but when I come in the door I don't want to be met by the pizza delivery  man either.  Well then again if he's a submissive...but I digress.  I would gladly give the kitchen over to a sub without a problem.
