To each their own. But to those that think it's not worth the effort... You don't know what you're missing.

LOL. Same could be said for just about any type of play out there.

Where in the heck were you guys when I was trying to convince people that bondage is art?

Nice to see you around, Cuff. My best to your gal.

Shibari has always been a bit too ornate for me. All show, and no fun.

I just don't understand. It doesn't even have to be particularly ornate. If you've seen aa lot of the more western stuff with tons of weaving and such, i can see why but there is pppllleeeenty of fun to be found in rope.

I have found that Fet Life is the easiest way to find groups near you. Just enter the name of your area and you'll see a list. I understand that Florida has a pretty active scene, so I'm sure there is something.

I agree with this. Look for upcoming events near you on FL. Shibari is a very popular subject and there are classes on it in most well populated areas pretty often. You might also want to look through Florida Groups there. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's more than one on the subject.

... or... perhaps we just don't find bondage all that fun and/or are attracted to different sorts of bondage.

That all being said, Carol looks pretty in a purple rope body harness. It's probably the kinkiest thing we do. I wouldn't go so far as to grace that with the term "shibari" though.

Perhaps, but a number of people in this thread have an opinion based wrong information on shibari - that it's slow, ornate and mostly show. Shibari is in fact a lot faster than most two knotty boys stuff, the ties are highly functional (actually, "less is more" is an aspect of Japanese aethetics) and when done right it is a very intimate form of communication with rope.

Knowing that, you still might not be attracted to it. That's fine. There's many things I don't like. But base your decision on facts, not the rubbish posted by non-experts.
