You know, I find "OMG, YOU DID THIS AND IT IS AGAINST THE RUELZ, LETS ALL TELL OP ABOUT IT IN MULTIPLE POSTS!1!!" Much, MUCH more irritating than someone using the search function.

Rule #1 should be "No backseat modding."

Agreed.

FR

Cupcake, on this side no one gives a rat's ass about your looks. We all would be more likely to presume you stole your avatar.

Someone reported me and my entire profile was deleted last night.

It have have been a bunch of someones. It's like the spam filter. If enough people report it, you're in the filter, or, in this case, your profile is hidden for a while. Theoretically, someone with computer savvy and a bunch of profiles could log in, report, log in again, report, and so on, until your profile got bombed.

It's not uncommon for young women, especially ones who have a "you're all losers and gross" type of profile. Guys get pissed off and want to "report the whore."

My suggestion: write Support pleasantly and explain the situation.

Honestly, your ego is a bit over the top isn't it? Do you honestly believe people are searching your profile and getting upset over your looks?

You got off to a horrible start posting on 9 year old threads, after being told multiple times you aren't supposed to do that. Then when someone says something here, you have the audacity to virtually bat your eyelashes and claim you are clueless and haven't posted prior to this post (much)?

I have no idea what happened to your profile, I skimmed it yesterday, but was certainly not impressed enough to remember what it said. I can tell you that I find it amusing that you have acted all innocent about the necro threads and "hoping" you didn't do anything like that.

Write to support and ask why your profile is not view-able to others.

Yup, multiple rubbing it in. And been around to see a bunch, Lynnxz.
You've mucho, admirable experience under your belt. . . (I knew at age 7, but wish I'd gotten active as early as you. Wish the best.)

Couple sensible things:
1) Using the term 'necro' to explain TOS violations to newcomers can add brief confusion (w/necrophilia).
2) I can't think of a more innocuous newbie error, than posting to old threads.

The error can be based on mistakenly seeing forum resources as enhancing info . . . rather than contemporary conversations, which they are. Seeing forum info, as wiki which it isn't . . . rather than blog, which it is.

Problem is: CM actually likes it both ways. We're supposed to refer 1st-time posters to former threads, to learn things (as if it were reliable, correctable wiki). And heaven forbid someone begins a new thread for things covered in older threads (again, as if former threads are well-established info, rather than questioning conversations).

Yesterday a Financial Domination thread came up for the upteenth time. While everyone was bemoaning its futility, along comes a poster who informs us of its genesis from prior century kinky male accountants in Britain (Snidely Whiplash version). Tell us, was that not a worthwhile update? LOL

Happy Valentines All, even to Snidely.

OK, but if *nobody* tells the OP what they did wrong, how else will they know?

Literally, I just posted on another board to tell them that their personal ad wasn't allowed on the forums. Yes, the Mods always send that little note in email but some people don't see that. If they aren't informed, how do they know any better than to repeat the infraction?

The underlined above is not true. Even the announcements from the administration here have clearly said that if a person wants to revive an old topic, create a new topic and link the older thread.

Granted, there is that nice stipulation about not repeated CURRENT topics that I would be thrilled if the site would go back to enforcing that policy. Any topic that is within the first couple of pages on any board isn't too old to add additional information.

Happy Valentine's Day to you as well. I hope you enjoy the day.

that "could" be the case if you live in the belief that only what you consider as attractive should be the norm of being attractive....and every other shape and appearance is not attractive to anyone...

I learned in recent years that many people with a few pounds too many on their ribs are way more relaxed and easy going in daily life than some thinner objects who give the impression to lean towards NPD....but thats just me [:)]

Oh, and what a shame that would be. Who would dredge up all those posts from nine years ago if you went and flounced away?

If you READ what the rest of that post.
I explained what a necro thread is.
That is a term I have seen used to describe a dead thread since the 1st day I joined CollarMe years ago. *shrugs*

Ok... you have posted on the boards.
Here is one.

Post From You

I found at least 1 necro post that you brought up from 2004 yesterday.
I saw other's on the scroll yesterday but I don't remember where.

Just say'n....

Geeez, when I'm reading the forums on interesting topics I hardly ever remember to look at the dates. They should be Archived separately if posting a comment would get someone deleted. 2004??? Yeah...that's OLLD, and should be ARCHIVED, not mixed in with the the current topics; put the limit on anything like, 3 months ago or so I guess. The vanilla forums I'm on usually archive everything with a separate search option for "Archives".

No it isn't rubbing it in. Often, you will see that many people were posting at once, so there is overlap.

"Necro" can refer to many things other than a desire to fuck dead people. Have you heard the term, "necrotic?" (sp?). "Necro" refers to anything dead.

I am going to assume that you have spent 9 years reading and only began posting recently. Do you realize how many pages of a section someone needs to go through to go back 9 years? The posts the OP brought back from the dead weren't all similar in that they would come up in a search. Even then, they were subjects that would be many pages along in the search. So really, yes it IS very annoying and unnecessary when someone revives an old thread. It is more so when they post something that was repeated throughout the discussion or something stupid, like "I agree with the others."

For active posters (and I have been here since 2004, although under a different name), you see the same thing over and over, and we tend to read the majority of posts that show as being active (being in bold). So opening something and thinking it is a new conversation when in reality, it is very old, is annoying.

To post to a thread from 2004, you have to flip through page after page.
Even to get to 3 months... YIKES that is work.

I dont know if it would result in you getting your profile deleted but arnt you the person that was resurecting old posts ?

Yep, multiple 9 year old ones...would qualify for it being locked but they usually send email to "normal" email account connected to profile.

Yes responding to a person that posted NINE YEARS AGO. Upper left corner is a date you need to be aware of when responding to anything

CynthiaWVirginia -> RE: Deleted my profile! (2/14/2013 4:21:13 PM)

I'm wondering...can anybody post in the forums under their same profile...if it has been deleted on the other side of CollarMe?

I thought there was just one profile, even though CM has two sides, CollarMe and CollarChat. That if a person's profile is deleted that it would be deleted on both sides. Am I wrong?

RedMagic1 -> RE: Deleted my profile! (2/14/2013 4:23:33 PM)

You can delete your CM profile and maintain your CollarChat profile. The downside/upside is that you won't be able to receive private messages anymore.

ETA: Click on My Profile at the top right of this page. You'll see your CollarChat profile. It's not the same thing.

CynthiaWVirginia -> RE: Deleted my profile! (2/14/2013 4:31:17 PM)

OoO! *grins* Thanks, that's good to know.

If a mod deleted an account, surely both sides would be deleted though...right? At the bottom of her post in this thread I clicked PM and successfully sent the OP a message, just to see if she could get it and answer back. I haven't gotten a response so I don't know if she has had time to yet. If there was no profile on that side, I wonder if there would have been a message I could see, like "No profile found" or "Letter could not be sent because no such profile exists anymore".

I think several people have complained of their profiles going poof on the other side lately. I usually send a private message telling them step by step which buttons to push to check to see if they hid their profile by accident. When I hid mine to find out if I had any difficulty unhiding it...I did have difficulty. Only once though. When I unhid it the second time it stayed visible.
