Himself eats waffles like toast, but he doesn't put syrup on (he's diabetic).

Oatmeal muffins (you can pack nuts and raisins in them)?

Scones?

Egg and sausage breakfast burritos?

Home made granola bars?

littlewonder -> RE: Fish McBites (2/15/2013 10:50:59 PM)

He don't think he likes granola bars and I know he doesn't like raisins but I like the idea of the breakfast burritos. I usually already have muffins or scones here many times.

I'm just trying to come up with healthy, on the go breakfast foods.

but the thought of the fish mcbites actually turns my stomach....

It's actually the commercial with the singing fish that turned my stomach. The little fish just reminded me of smelts and I was done.

I love this commercial. I was actually thinking of buying the mouse on of those singing picture thingees for her room, drive her absolutely freaking insane with it.

As for breakfast-burritos work fine ("Everything's better in a tortilla"-Boone Daniels). I like granola, just don't like the prepackaged bars-they tend to be all sugar and nastiness

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: Fish McBites (2/15/2013 11:14:22 PM)

Look for a burrito recipe that is going to turn out non greasy and non gooey and you should be fine.

I used to make them for my kids and freeze them in long trays to retain shape. Once frozen you can put them in baggies or whatever. An easy zap and great for the road.

here in Baltimore, getting fresh fish is very easy. We have fish markets everywhere here.

I also told Master today that I am going to have to make up some breakfast stuff to freeze that he can just microwave while in the shower and he can eat it on his way to work. He gets up at 5am for work. I told him a long time ago that if he woke me up I'd make breakfast for him but he said he doesn't like waking me up and that he just doesn't have time in the mornings for a cooked breakfast.

Now I just have to figure out what to make. The conversation about breakfast stuff just made me think of that again. lol

When you jack a thread that hard, shouldn't you spit on it first?

and don't get me started on the Mcrib. Talk about stomach turning!

It boggles my mind the number of people that love those.

Aw, come on. The topic is fast food, hardly serious business. Also, the OP did make reference to restaurant choice (at least in my mind when I was writing it).

LadyPact -> RE: Fish McBites (2/16/2013 8:38:36 AM)

I've been seeing these advertised on tv. Truthfully, I'm surprised they hadn't come up with this idea before now. Some components as they already sell with just some different processing. I am with lw though. By the time I drive the hundred miles to where a McD's is, I'd rather be in one of the other restaurants in town.

Lol, well yeah, anyone that drives 100 miles just to eat at McDonald's has some issues.

If you buy me one of those I just may have to buy you prepackaged granola bars. [;)]

Absolutely! (the croissan'wich) tasty enough that BK shouldn't end them at 11am everyday. And if you refrigerate em, they're good for a couple days. Microwave on very low power.
Also (don't let the secret out:) no value anywhere compares to BK's chicken crisp at $1.

What bothers most though, is the fact that no fast chain can seem to get a fish item on their $1 menu for kids. Might be nice to get kids into fish at a young age. Ronald would just dance around eating one on an ad.

Oh don't tell me that. I'll start buying them by the crate.

LOL . . . I hesitate to say . . . but . . . they do go on 2 for 1 special at least several intervals per year. LOL

Pancakes or waffles would be too messy for him to eat on his way to his car as he rushes out the door. [:D] I'm thinking of something like breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit, not sure what else yet. I don't really like buying premade stuff though because it just doesn't taste anything like a homemade meal.

You could "poach" an egg in the micro to put on an english muffin. Poke the yoke and experiment at partial power for your personal taste in done-ness.

Level -> RE: Fish McBites (2/16/2013 11:39:34 AM)

I bought a snack size Fish McBites earlier, in the interest of errr, science.

Meh. Didn't even finish them.

Scrambled egg bake (eggs, hash browns, veggies & sausage in re-heat container he could slap on a fresh tortilla as he goes out the door would be most food groups, 2 protein, a dairy & veggie.
Fruit cups, jello, veggie cup or salad. As lunch options

How you bake that?
