Thread drift is ok:)

This recipe though is exactly why I am suspicious of online diabetic recipes, cause how do you know they know what they are talking about, and its actually appropriate.

I'm too lazy to make my own yogurt lol.

So I was just comparing Greek yogurt with Icelandic skyr yogurt. It seems skyr has less carbs and sugar in it so if you can find that, you might wanna give it a try. The most popular brand is called Siggi's. You can usually find it in regular grocery stores these days but I buy mine at Whole Foods if you have one near you.

It does have a little bit of a tangier taste to it than Greek though but I like the tanginess of it.

On mayo clinics website there were a few white pitato recipes and those are suppposedly not good for you, so why are they apprip for the d recipe list?

Chatte, I gotta disagree about high fat dairy being bad.

I agree.

The carb count in heavy cream is 6.6 grams for 1 cup divided by 6 for the servings on this recipe. Unsweetened Greek yogurt is 10g per serving.

You know, that's what I've heard. I've also heard that using commercially prepared yogurt as your starter will not result in 'good' yogurt -- that is very active yogurt.

Do you make your own?

What is the procedure?

Sorry TFTB -- thread drift.

I used a favourite, locally made, yogurt.

The carb count in heavy cream is empty - that is comprised of high fat content and little protein.

No fat yogurt has 10 grams of protein per ounce.

So I don't just look at carb content, and try to avoid foods with empty calories.

I have gestational diabetes and I was told a small amount of blueberries are ok. You could also get just the flavoring to add.

I use splenda since stevia makes me feel sick to my stomach. Stevia works great for me. I made a safe root beer float one night. It is whipping cream, Real whipping cream not cool whip and added some splenda. Spoon the whipped cream into a cup and pour sugar free root beer over it. It tastes like a root beer float and even foams up like one. It had no effect on my blood sugar at all.

I found a web site that had a ton of low carb recipies. A lot of them are good enough that even after I have my baby and I am no longer diabetic I will still make them.

Being pregnant I was so happy to see all the deserts I could have that was safe for me to eat.

I've used Linda Sue's recipes for years, she comes up with some tasty ones.

There's a link to a couple more sites in topping's diabetes thread, in the health section here.
