Hi everyone,

I'm writing to ask about the safety issues of jumping over to Y email or IM to speak with a person from this site. I don't mind if I've had a few letters back and forth and they seem like a real person. But, a few times I write to a sub or slave and get a reply that says 'here's my y address, talk to me there.'

Is it easier for someone to hack or track or in some way harm you if you give your outside email as opposed to staying within the CM site? Or is this something that is just a preference for some?

The biggest reason I ask is the multitudes of obvious fakes who post a pic and an outside email address. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but if there is a certain unethical reason for wanting outside mail contact I'd like to know. Thanks a bunch.

There are ways to obtain a person's information after chatting with them on an IM client like YIM, AIM, etc. I've even had somebody show me how to do it...it's not hard. I've also spoken with a person who was actually blackmailed by a person who got their information in such a way.

That being said, there are people who prefer to chat on Yahoo. I'm one. It's more free-flowing than an exchange of messages, although phone/in-person interactions are better.

The best thing you can probably do is trust your gut. If you're suspicious of somebody who wants to jump onto Yahoo after just one or two messages, or who has their Yahoo username in their profile, don't contact them there, use this site to communicate. If they have a problem with that, that's their problem.

What's most likely is that once you move to yahoo, they're going to ask for money.

muhly- Thanks for the heads up. I've told some I want to stay with CM for a bit and they left off chatting, no skin off my nose. Blackmail isn't an option, I have no shame in being the way I am and would use my real name if it didn't defy common sense.

DeFIP- You are most likely correct, but I fell off the turnip truck many moons ago, so I'm not worried about sob stories.

The main worry I have is whether it is easier to hack a computer when you have the persons Y account over a CM name. Thanks for the input!

Many people, myself included prefer conversations via IM online over email tag.

If I someone wants to speak to me on a regular basis. I give them my YIM immediately. If they choose to use it, that is their choice. However, I only play email tag for so long before I get tired of it.

Dude, when they immediately tell you to go to Ymail or somewhere else, it's a scam.

And yes, once you go there it's easier to get your information. This has been a scam for years upon years now.
