Apparently channeling Joe Biden, our new Secretary of State has invented a new country: Kyrzakhstan.

In an embarrassing slip of the tongue, Mr Kerry last week praised US diplomats working to secure "democratic institutions" in the Central Asian country, which does not exist. The newly minted diplomat was referring to Kyrgyzstan, a poor, landlocked nation of 5.5 million, which he appeared to confuse with its resource-rich neighbour to the north, Kazakhstan.

But don't worry, the transcript of his remarks has been "cleansed".

The State Department kindly omitted the error in the official transcript of Wednesday's speech, which Mr Kerry delivered on the eve of his first foreign trip as secretary of state. Mr Kerry's flub was all the more awkward, because Kyrgyzstan is a key ally in the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan and a major recipient of US aid, which totalled $41 million (£27 million) in 2011.

Amusingly, the story attempts to soft-pedal the gaff by noting that Kerry isn't the first to make such a mistake.

In August 2008, then-President George W Bush mixed up Russia and its tiny southern neighbour Georgia...

Well damn. That should make everyone feel better, eh? Just what we need, more idiots in high places.

Since when is a $41 million country a major recipient of US aid?

How do we know that the country that does not exist in this universe does not exist in a parallel universe and Kerry just suffered from some quantum thingie that made him say what his double in the other universe was saying....

Nope, dont sound right saying it or printing it.

Kerry fucked up... as for Joe Biden, pray he is kidnapped by the house cat's alien controllers and replaced with a duplicate with the brain of a chimp... the duplicate would then have a higher IQ.

Just out of curiousity..where is this country?

But if you want to complain about a country getting $41 million, here is the list of the top ten countries that get US aid

He DID freely admit to being a war criminal and he did march under a communist banner while still a naval reservist and while our country was at war with a communist country but, he meant well so all is forgiven.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

John Kerry did testify before Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs under oath claimed Americans were committing war crimes daily in Vietnam, however he admitted that in his 4 month tour of service with the Swift Boats he did not witness a single act. In fact he only serviced one year in the navy mostly in the reserves. After his brief tour he joined the Vietnam Veteran Against the War and was a Spokes person.

Interestingly John Kerry a graduate of Yale was a member of the Skull and Bones Society, George W. H. Bush was also a member.

John Kerry is the richest Senator currently serving, it is estimated he has $3.2 billion in assests.

It`s not that our standards are all that high.

It only looks that way because the republicans has sunk the standards so low...

Same with President Obama. He`s not stellar...just competent and honest, keeps his promises and hasn`t had a world-class fuck-up....like his predecessor had, weekly.

But compared to bush.....he does look fairly brilliant.

Note to veterans.....

If you plan on running for office in the future.....don`t run as a democrat.....especially if you were a war hero who personally saved lives and received battle field awards of merit.

There is a particularly rancid and cowardly part of the GOP who`ll attempt to paint you as the very opposite and try to assassinate your character with every dirty trick known.

If you end up running as a republican,it won`t matter that you were AWOL and got kicked out of the service.......the con-brown-nosers will lick everything clean and elect you to the presidency.....where you`ll be able to get thousands of Americans killed through neglect and treachery and still be thought of as a hero.....(shrub).

OK... I'm a liberal and a democrat (or I was). I voted for Obama first term. In theory I'm on your side here.

But HOW on god's green earth can you say that Obama is honest and/or keeps his promises. His lies in this campaign are well documented and the promises he ACTIVELY went against in his first term are well documented. What sort of myopia are you experiencing here? Do you really need me to provide linkage for this?

Thanks for that Kirata. I was too lazy to go digging for what should've been an obvious and well known fact.

This is what makes me nuts about American politics. People treat it more like a football game than running a country with the most powerful military in the world. Nobody cares what their own team does so long as they win. I actually find that particularly interesting given that these are BDSM discussion boards where, allegedly, people care about "honor".

Now,let`s compare.

We`re good with those numbers......

And as I pointed out, President is merely competent and capable and isn`t known to lie, every other sentence.

That`s enough for most Americans. He isn`t after all an emperor who can just wave his hand to change a law or someone`s mind.

You think of that as "pretty impressive"???

Well OK, now I understand the difference in viewpoint. You find someone who couldn't even be honorable 50% of the time to be impressive. I was kind of hoping for something a bit better than "not even half truthful".

Oh... and this time around he did basically say he wouldn't sell us out to the bankers... many times in many different forms. So far... I'd have to call that one a pretty big miss.
