yes post its and some other visual aids are being used now,
charles something else that helps with strattera is paxil it helps boost the effect of the strettera without having more of a dose and less side effects

Charles6682 -> RE: disobediant or distracted (2/28/2013 10:09:51 PM)

I use to take Paxil a long time ago.I didn't realize that it helps with the Straterra.If I had known that,I would have just stayed on that.Thats something I can talk to my Dr about.

I have found the rubberband around the finger a genteel reminder, pins sticking out of the body with post- it notes attached dont always do well in public..lol...but you just trying to stay focused on the task at hand instead of all you may have to do helps too, everyone doesnt multi-task, get one thing done before going to next..mission completed! good luck

I will admit that I am a scatter brain myself.I'll try to focus on one thing at time.My mind can tend to wander at times.Sticky notes,alarm clocks,keeping a notepad around to write things down as they come to your mind,so one doesn't forget.Thats what I usually do.As soon I I realize something is important,I will write that down as soon as poosible so I don't forget it.Theres all kinds of tricks.I just don't want to leave a wrong impression to those who don't understand what A.D.D. is and think I would be trying to ignore them on purpose.Its just the way my brain works.Its a chemical imbalance that can be helped with medication and/or therapy.

Theres also the holistic method to this as well.The whole nature healing,if someone is into that.The most important thing is knowledge.The more someone understands their diagnosis,the better it is to cope with it.

Agreed, I have never been diganosed with ADD or ADHD either, but yet I find my mind wandering at times, and it is not as I have seen many of say, that we want to be diobediant, or disloyal or any of the above. We just have things on our minds like that of normal people.

Is there something that we can say to our Master's/ Mistresses in the contract or before that is correct or can be respected?

Thanks

yes it is not like i do things just to disobey i can get distracted by my own mind. it is worse if i am doing something that requires me to move around it kind of makes my brain feel like im excited and it can overcome my defenses where i normaly would not. i go to the gym daily doing a full aerobic workout burning 400 cal in 30 min. this helps and having a readily availabe form of caffine like coffie or soda. i try very hard sometimes too hard my Mistress has me saying more is not better if i do too much to help me overcome this aspect.

You might try squeezing a ball. My kids did in school and the kinetic movement helped them concentrate on static tasks - like class work.

I am curious to hear from a Domme,if possible,that has had experience with subs who have ADD.Is dominating a guy without ADD any different than dominating a guy with ADD?

lizi -> RE: disobediant or distracted (3/2/2013 7:56:59 PM)

I've been in the public school system working with the cognitively and physically impaired kids now for my third clinical rotation...one thing I saw that might help you is that they have purchased balance ball chairs to use as classroom chairs for the hyperactive and ADD kids similar to this one.

I was curious about it and asked my instructor for more information, she gave me a pamphlet to read about the theory of why it works to calm them down and give them focus. I don't have anything online to send you as what I read was in this pamphlet, but I"m sure you could research it if you were interested. I will say that I was impressed that the school was willing to spend money on it, and my instructor said she did see a difference in these kids as far as them having a better attention level. It might be something you'd like to look into [:)]

When I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid,I did recieve alot of help from the education system.People with ADD do have rights here in the USA and I would assume in any civil society.Sometimes having ADD can have its unique benefits sometimes.When I took my GED test,I could have recieved special help for that but I didn't accept.I wanted to see if I could get my GED on my own and I did.Granted,Strattera helped to make that possible.Still,I pass on my first time and I thank the support of a certain teacher more than anything.She had faith in me when I didn't think I could do it.Clearly,she saw something in me and she wa right.

LPslittleclip -> RE: disobediant or distracted (3/4/2013 8:49:16 PM)

yes not being treated as a child growing up i did not develop the ability to self regulate myself. some thing that i am working on now is to not jump to try and do what is being asked of me before it is done being asked. i am so energetic that i try to start as fast as i can, so i am working on keeping my hands still at my sides and focus on Her face till She is done asking.

TieMeInKnottss -> RE: disobediant or distracted (3/4/2013 9:01:38 PM)

I highly suggest a magazine called "ADDitues". The articles are helpful but even better are the products that are often advertised there and forums where people share what worked. I found watches that have quiet alarms (vibes) and can accommodate 6 or 7 different ones, something called "find one find all"...

chatterbox24 -> RE: disobediant or distracted (3/5/2013 5:33:54 AM)

Keep it simple.
One sheet of paper ought to help. List everything on it in order and carry it in your pocket. Everything from your grocery list, to a bill that needs paid today, to an appt. Write it out, read it back, and even say it outloud. THis makes a big difference in memory, I used to do it for tests. Saying it outloud, reading it, and writing it does wonders.
Get in the habit of carrying that one piece of paper, writing it out the day before at the same time and you will forget very little. and NEver put off writing something down the moment it comes into your head! So keep that paper with you ALL THE TIME.
lay it by the bedside at night.

This really works for me. I have an iphone and using it for this annoys me.

tie thank you for the magazine info i will look into it further it seems to have alot of helpfull ideas

Charles6682 -> RE: disobediant or distracted (3/5/2013 1:34:57 PM)

I guess being diagnosed with ADD as a kid,did give me an early advantage on how to cope with ADD in my Adult years because I had a entire childhood of learning how to cope with this.
