Right, to all those who've seen this film, do we all agree a) that everyone else should see it and b) that, before seeing it, they should aim to learn as little about it as possible, the better to get the point of it?

I haven't seen it, and I know nothing about it (hadn't even heard of it before now). I will watch it at your suggestion.

Yes, I agree. I saw the film and it was highly disturbing.

Especially since it is a true story.

Honestly, all I want to say is that it's a kind of psychological thriller based on some headline news stories in the USA. It's had rave reviews, though, and gets 89% from Rotten Tomatoes.

You really do not want to know too much about it. It would ruin it. You can google it afterwards!!

I haven't seen the film but I know the story it's based on.
There was also a Law and Order:SVU episode based on it.
I don't think I'm going to see it though its my understanding
from people who have is that is it is not explicit in showing
some of what happened I don't like seeing things like that on
film for various reasons. It's a story that is certainly worth knowing
about and discussing. It's scary and very revealing about human
psychology.

i second that. i won't see the film most likely. i know enough about the story that i'm not sure i would want to "relive" that from any point of view involved.

Whoa Nellie! There is a BIG difference between "a true story" and "Based on true events." This is particularly true of just about anything that comes out of Hollywood.

I'm not saying "This is a lie." I'm saying this is a movie and is fiction. The earliest lesson I ever learned (short of lying to my mother, which usually didn't work) about creating fiction was "Start with something that really happened, then twist it, turn it, elaborate it, do whatever it takes to turn it into a good story.

it isn't along the same lines as the human centipede ( which is just gross beyond words )

@Harry - from what i understand it is a true story in that the events of the movie happened the way it did in reality. they may have changed details here and there ( as they do ) but everyone i know who watched the film said it seemed to be on par with the real events

It's the movie about what happened in a fast food joint?

It's a very good movie and I agree that it would've been better had I not been familiar with all the details of the case before I saw it.

Haven't seen the movie but I remember the details from what was in the news. It definitely was a weird scenario that happened and I was shocked that so many fell into it. It just left me shaking my head.
