(Fast Reply) Is there a symbol/picture/object that you both personally share? I gave Master a money clip with my brand engraved on it. I searched online and found an engraver that could specialize engraving just about anything. I'm happy to look up who it is if you're interested. She was wonderful to work with. I had to find someone more savvy in computer art than I to be able to put the design into a file the engraver could use. But it ended up being a very personal gift (and I like the idea of hanging out in his pocket like that). He liked it very much. The vender did a great engraving job. Of course there were set up fees, artwork fees, shipping fees...but the outcome was worth it, and it was about as personal as I could get. If you are marked, an engraving of your mark would be very personal.

However, I have a $700 Wittenauer and I bought My ex-wife a $300 Bulova. Both of them cheap watches when you think of the grand spectrum of watches, but neither one can be engraved because the bezel's metal is too soft. In fact, it was the Bulova that got screwed up. It used the same metal. If you want to go buy a Timex or something you should not have any problems that I know of.

For buying fine watches, engraving can be done on the band. I just found the most lovely Breguet watch for a mere $116,900, with a beautiful leather band which had engraving options. Engraving does not necessarily have to be on the metal itself. For a fine watch, initials could be set inside the band.

Thanks for everyones suggestions [:)] SirKenin had me worried so Ive spent the last hour trying to work out what its made of, it's stainless steel, should engrave easily (whew). It's a seiko sports watch so it can take wear and tear easily (Master will be wearing it at work). Actually loved that idea about engraving the band ownedgirlie, I could put a word on each kink, I mean link!!!! So many good suggestions, really thinking hard on this [:)] It's just got to be so perfect!

I was talking about my experience no need to get snotty about it.
