Wonder if US/Venezuelan relations will improve?

FatDomDaddy -> RE: Chavez Dead (3/5/2013 4:20:27 PM)

Eventually

thishereboi -> RE: Chavez Dead (3/5/2013 5:04:57 PM)

Its about time he did something positive for the people of his country.

TheHeretic -> RE: Chavez Dead (3/5/2013 6:38:23 PM)

Gee. And he was getting that fine Cuban health care, too.

We'll have to wait and see what sort of leader follows him into the office.

servantforuse -> RE: Chavez Dead (3/5/2013 6:43:00 PM)

Owner still thinks health care in Cuba is better than ours..Along with the other lefti wackos.

DarkSteven -> RE: Chavez Dead (3/5/2013 6:50:05 PM)

Yeah, once they booted the US ambassador I figured it was imminent. Nicolas Maduro figures he's got a grip, and he was afraid the US would fund his opponents once Chavez was dead.

Level -> RE: Chavez Dead (3/5/2013 7:00:30 PM)

Hopefully relations warm, and we get cheaper oil.

At least there's no paranoia....

DaddySatyr -> RE: Chavez Dead (3/6/2013 4:02:29 AM)

"fatherland"? Really? Did this Maduro idiot really want to drag that word into the conversation? Although ... there were tails of Venezuela being one of the places that nice, retired German soldiers and politicians decided to visit at the end of WWII ...

Peace and comfort,

Michael

My eye stopped at "fatherland" too lol... maybe things wont smooth out with them, after all.

RomanticRebel -> RE: Chavez Dead (3/6/2013 5:41:43 AM)

I could never figure out what he did to make the right wing hate him so much. Certainly he didn't have the best interests of the US at heart, and why should he? Certainly he opposed our invasion of Iraq, and again, why not? He called W a donkey, which is an accurate statement in my opinion. However, the right cannot point to one concrete reason they dislike him, aside from "He disliked us".

DarkSteven -> RE: Chavez Dead (3/6/2013 5:46:08 AM)

He was trying to peddle his own brand of socialism in Latin America, with a strong anti-US flavor to it. We were concerned that he might destabilize the region. In other words, it wasn't so much what he did to Venezuela as much as what he was trying to do to his neighbors.

RomanticRebel -> RE: Chavez Dead (3/6/2013 5:54:11 AM)

If you're referring to the so-called "pink tide" that has swept through South and Central America over the last fifteen years or so, then I must remind you that all of those leaders were indeed democratically elected. What right does the US have to say what goes on in Venezuela, or Argentina, or Nicaragua, or Brazil, or any other country? The answer is none, despite what the Rush-felching fundies in this country believe. In fact, it is because of that belief that people like Chavez dislike the US.

It is questionable, one of the laws he created was that his politcal party would remain in power regardless of anything.

So in your world no americans die of cancer because our health care is so much better than that available in cuba.

Do you also have a problem with motherland?
Do you have any validation that venezuela accepted any nazi war criminals and who was responsible? It could not have been chavez since he was born nearly a decade after ww 2 was over.

Are you saying that the u.s. has the right to control the western hemisphere and anyone who disagrees with that is an enemy of the u.s.?
