I went to monitoring for my high blood pressure on Tuesday and it was higher and I had a headache so the doctor decided I needed to be admitted right then instead of waiting until Thursday. They started pitocin and as soon as I could really feel the contractions her heart rate kept dropping. I had a feeling it would be a long night since it was so early in labor and already she was reacting. I went ahead and got my epidural and just hoped it went fast and she would be out and safe. The doctor had thought perhaps she was not liking the waters being ruptured and decided to do an infusion and in the middle of it she ran in with nurses and told me they were stopping my labor and she kept tapping my baby's head. She relaxed a bit and said she thought that perhaps there were just too many contractions. I asked if she was ok and the doctor said if she wasn't then they would be running down the hall to the OR. I relaxed and texted a friend when the doctor ran in again and they were unhooking monitors saying the OR was ready and she did run and told my husband to wait there. I was trying not to panic but I knew it must be bad since now they were running. When I put my arm out for the drugs to put me to sleep the on call told my regular doctor who just walked in that the baby's heartrate was 50 then I was asleep. I woke up and was assured right away my baby was ok and with my husband who was feeding her. My doctor told me the cord was wrapped tightly around her and the placenta had started to tear away. Then I was all teary knowing I had read not long ago a mom who lost her full term baby due to a placental abruption.
But my baby is here and beautiful. She weighed 7 lbs and 1 oz. My8 yr old daughter is the happiest big sister in the world. I am in quite a bit of pain but I was told to expect that since they were not at all gentle getting her which I am happy for. I would take a lot more pain for a healthy baby.

Gawdamn that's an awesome post!!!!!

Congrats Mom :)

7 lbs, 1 oz....perfect size :)

Life begins....and you're the Mom. How spectacular is that ? :):):):):):):):):)

You get to replay with this baby how much she scared mommy and daddy for years to come.

This will come in especially handy when she wants to borrow the car in a few years!

Congratulations! Love and hugs to all!

Right, oh my. I would have loved to say it was not that bad and we were worried for nothing but I have read too many stories of babies that died from a placenta abruption and it was only that I had a very good doctor and I was in a good hospital that she made it. The doctor told my husband she cried when they pulled her out which was very good and they even took pictures of her right after birth since I was asleep and he was not allowed to go with us to see her born.

Congratulations!!! Glad to hear you're all safe and alive.

Now you can use this against her when she pisses you off. "After all I did to bring you into this world; I can still take you out ya know?!" J/K

I hope you all the best though!

What a scary time for your husband. I can't imagine having to wait outside for news.

Lookie - you numpty, the baby is a girl. LookieNoNookie is clearly a boy's name.
