Im not willing to discount it and say she wont. Statistically speaking, she will. And each factor in the case adds to those statistics.

She didnt have any trainind... stress.

Home invasion... stress

Her own words ""I was scared and I didn't know what to do next," Kendra told ABC News." .. stress

Hearing someone attempt to open the closet door.. stress

Shooting a weapon she has never shot before... stress

Hearing the guy yell out in pain after she shot... stress

Not knowing where he was after she shot, ir he left, would he return... stress.

Now, I am sure you big, bad men can handle all that very well.

Its a 12 year old girl, ffs.

So again, I ask you, given that it did happen, would it not be better that she have training? Shit happens. Kids get left alone. Kids defend adults.

Tazzy, would you prefer, in all instances where 1) kids are alone or 2) adults present, that kids neither be able (have access) nor proficient to self defend?

Did I not say it would be better? Are you having trouble following?

Would it not be better that she not have been home alone at all?

Again, you are selectively reading.

Its something I was trained to do from age 10.

My first kill was at age 10. Poor squirrel. But it taught me a valuable lesson in not only how to handle that gun, but also the effects of pulling the trigger first hand, the sounds, the smells, the aftermath.

Nothing can replace that.

However, again, its BEST that they not be placed into that position at all. And with home invasion on the rise, I wont be party to giving parents a pass on..."Well, I didnt know"

Fine. Then I take it as an emphatic YES, without regard of the argument over kids being left alone (being facially obvious), it would be best for them to be trained and having access to self defend.

We are in agreement.

and that's, I believe, a first

"If" questions can go the other way too...

What if "gun training" caused yet another tragedy?

Just having one in the house raises the chance that a family member or loved one`s will shot.

The gun nuttery doesn`t want that in the conversation though....

Isn`t it kinda cowardly Tazzy that our cons want to pin you down to their "if" questions but won`t respond to your honest observations?

You make a major error there. Training, where applied, stops accidents. Having one, where training is followed, there are no accidents. It's going outside of training parameters that most, not all, accidents happen.

That's a very good question, and one that exposes the hidden dangers of driver-ed and training airline pilots.

You really miss it don't you?

You're done... YOU HAVE SHOWN YOUR COLORS. It's not about children or safety. It's about guns.

So here's your big chance for gold, genius - other than this post, quote me ONE instance where I've used either phrase (or similar) to make an argument either for or against. Do that and I'll take a turn at being your bitch.

I'll stand on it being an accurate characterization, and you seem to be under the mistaken impression that there's a turn to take.

Well not really - it's been one-way traffic all along and in every other gun thread, too.

Your latest effort of summarising shit that never happened is beyond mere gold.

I swear, you must only open your mouth to change feet.

I guess the world looks different from your position, but don't plan on standing up anytime soon.

Right now I'm looking through fogged-up glasses.

Damn this typing bizzo when I can't stop chuckling.

You have stated that, repeatedly. We get it! Now, care to address the fact that it does happen (kids alone) without resorting to only whining that it shouldn't? And holding parents accountable is another issue, but does not address when kids are home alone and whether they should be able to self defend?

I will never be a proponent of children having unsupervised access to guns of any kind. If a parent cannot ensure their safety any other way, they shouldnt leave them at home alone.
