Moon, he was DEAD. When you're dead, the heart isn't beating to push the blood out.
To 'bleed out' is a medical term for 'die from loss of blood'. It is impossible to die when you are already dead. You just have one shot at it. (assuming you aren't Buddhist or a cat)
