With that said, I think I'd still like to bring along my chain.  There's nothing quite like being <cough> naked on a chain with someone you love, trust, and desire holding the reins.

Hehe... yeah... cause I've never really considered Knife Play to be all that terribly Sadistic.  Part of it comes from having spent a few years when I was much younger, working part of the time in a home based custom knife shop with one of my ex's.  Spend a couple of years pounding hot metal to Make  knives, and they sorta kinda loose the "fear" thrill for ya.
 
The second part is purely subjective, and emotional though.  When you think about knife play, one of the reasons that it has that "fight or flight" adrenal rush is due to the subconscious (and sometimes conscious) fear that the person holding the knife might intend harm you.  (Not "Hurt" - HARM - big difference in the two in my lexicon.)  If you're doing knife play with someone, then obviously (or at least Hopefully) you've already come to a point where you Trust Them NOT to Harm You.  Well - if ya trust them enough to let them handle a knife while you're bound, you aren't likely going to be having any serious concerns conscious or subconscious that something inherantly BAD is going to happen.  No fear = no adrenaline rush.  No rush = no reason to bother with that type of play.  Knife play with any given partner MIGHT produce the rush once or twice - maybe - if you're lucky, and it's still relatively early in the relationship, when you're still building trust.  But later on?  Pppphhhhttt.... not bloody likely that it's going to maintain it's adrenal factor.
 
(Now psychological sadism on the other hand... that one Never looses it's Edge - pun intended.... because it's never going to be the same thing twice, even if it IS with the same partner!)

Since I've only got an hour, I'm going to say a cane.  The reason for this is that canes can be tender, as well as being cruel, and sometimes tender IS cruel... if you've been "tender" long enough. 
 
I'd tell you how I planned to wield it, but then I'd have to borrow TC's hunting knife and kill you.
