fullofgrace -> working for your dominant/master (6/22/2006 12:46:59 AM)

i'm curious how many slaves and submissives here do paid or unpaid non-domestic work for their dominants/masters? meaning...are you employed by them or do you do unpaid work as part of your servitude? if you are employed, does the work situation have any effect on your personal relationship? if you do unpaid work, how do you balance it with job/personal responsibilities?

this is mostly out of curiosity, and a desire to see if anyone is in a similar situation...i rather by accident ended up doing His web site, and then kind of got dragged into doing publication research, editing, and query writing for Him. i enjoy it because i know it takes a lot of stress off of Him not to have to do much of the research that i do...but i don't want freelance webdesigning to be my entire life, and as it is, i already do unpaid work for three websites, including His - far more unpaid work than i do paid, and my work for Him and one other website measures out to probably 10-20 hrs/week, depending on the week. i'm currently looking for a part-time job (20-30 hrs/week) with regular hours and pay, but i'm kind of worried about how that will balance out with all of the unpaid work responsibilities i have - especially those for Him. it's not a huge issue for me, but one that's on my mind lately, particularly since this will be the first time i'll be working set hours and going to school full-time at the same time...i am used to being able to make my own hours. at the same time, i don't want to stop my work for Him, because i do enjoy being able to provide this service (particularly since we don't live together and He doesn't permit me to do much domestic service, if at all, when i am at His house).

i'm not sure if this post is making any sense...just curious to see if anyone has thoughts :)

I do any kind of work he asks me to do. I think you have a very valid concern and should tell your Master. Hopefully his and your first priority will be school so he might have to reduce your free website work load accordingly or maybe he could start paying you so you would not have to work that part time job. The Owner is very careful to keep a balance on my time commitments , since my time is his time :)

I think almost all subs/slaves to "unpaid"(that term just does not even seem appropriate in relation to the word Master) work for the ones who own us. Generally it is accepted as part of either who we are or what we do.

I do think you should discuss your concerns with your Master as it is his responsibility to keep you on an even keel in all aspects of your life.

As the prior posters have said, perhaps if you discuss it with your Master he will ease some of the time committment that you have made or perhaps begin to pay you.  Sometimes people around us get so focused on what they need or what has to get done that they forget it isnt our "job" or project and take for granted that we have all the time in the world to devote to them.  As much I"m sure you enjoy helping him...there comes a point when a girls gotta make a living....

I do all of the house work because it is O/our home and to keep it beautiful is pleasing to Him. i also work a outside job and this is no problem because i keep Him foremost in my mind because all i do reflects on Him so doing my best at work and being professional reflects well on Him.

I do almost all the housework for Daddy, including the laundry. We don't live together but we live close enough (within walking distance) that I can come over whenever I like and I have a key. I do it because I enjoy it, I like it when he comes home from work and I see how pleased he is with me. I get paid, in a way. I get 30 dollars a week, but it goes into a savings account so that when I get down to my goal weight, I will have money to buy a new wardrobe.

I was at one point working for Master on his side business.

This meant that I was up at 5:00am doing payments and invoices, left the house to catch a 7:15 train, got to work at 8:40, worked for 8 hours (9 including lunch), left work at 5:20pm, got home at 7:10pm. Grabbed dinner and then worked for him again doing order packaging until 10:30 or 11:00pm.

I was exhausted and sick all the time. Not to mention the effect of never being able to cook a decent meal and do general clean up around the house (I don't do housekeeping). It was effecting my performance at my job. I finally sat down and explained, that while I absolutely wanted his business to succeed, I just couldn't keep going the way I was.

Our relationship has been set up so that if I have concerns and can argue my points, it will be considered. In this case, my duties to that company are now minimal. I help where I can, but am no longer doing the 30+ hours into it that I was.

I work outside our relationship full-time; this does not however, impinge on our time together.
Other than that, Master does not require me to do any extra "web' work for him, and his job requires confidentiality so he does not share that with me in any way.
I did, however, do the landscaping at his house. I have some experience in that and asked him if it would be ok if I did. I did not expect to be paid for it though.
