Some advice is needed here.

I have a friend who attempted to close her account. I happen to look it up today and sent her a message. She told me she was surprised to be notified of a message as she had closed that account/profile and didn't understand why it was still active.

So, taking her password, I logged into her account and tried to close it myself. I then logged out and logged onto my account. Again I looked up her account. Instead of seeing "No account exists" or whatever, I find it's still there! So, what gives? Can we not close our accounts now???

The secret to closing an account here is to not check up to see if it's deleted for a time.  I'm not sure how much time has to pass but I do know if you go back to the account before that time is over, the account automatically is reopened.  I didn't realize that notifications would still go through for a time but apparently they do.

Don't be surprised if this gets moved to another forum.  It is not a BDSM topic.

Yes, I am crazy about feathered creatures. I have a dozen chickens, 3 ducks, 5 geese, and 2 parakeets.

Revise that number. Just got 14 new chicks and 5 turkeys.

I had closed my account, when I got bored.

But then, I came back!

Wish I had kept the account because I couldn't get the username anymore.

It took me almost a year and a half to get my previous account closed. If we could just change our usernames on CM without having to open a whole different account, I would have kept the same one. It only got closed when I mentioned it on a thread in one of the forums and then a Mod did it for me. I thanked her after that.

Theoretically, if you don't access the account for a week or two, after requesting it to be deleted, then it will be. But any accessing of it removes it from the delete group.

However, this appears to be a frequent glitch. She does better to contact support and explain she left it alone and it still exists, and please close it for her.

In the meantime, remove all pictures. Remove the profile, delete the journal entries.

You can never escape. No one really wants to delete their account. Who ever set up this forum knows that. I deleted this account for months once after I acted a bit immature on the forums and got into some fights. If I recall closed it and left for months. To me it really did not matter the account remained. I never really wanted to leave though. So, collarme.... As always knew best. Truthfully with cache, search engines and design. Once you post something on the net there really is no deleting it. I've looked at 1-2 cached or otherwise archived profiles of folks who are no longer here over the years. Tell her, it was a her right? To delete her profile. Write something stupid in it, remove pics, make it private and just walk away. Important lesson there is really no deleting anything on the net. She should be able to make the profile so she is 100% unidentifiable, right?
