I was watching TMC this morning and found a very interesting movie. Smarty, with Joan Blondell and Warren William, about a women who divorces her husband for hitting her... and apologizing after. The reason: She likes masterful men. Through the movie she was flighty, flirtatious, more than a tease, and seemed to be our definition of a SAM. She marries another man who is a bit of a control freak (Edward Everett Horton) and treats him the same way she did the first husband. At the end of the movie she goes back to husband 1, and goads him to slap her. The final line is oh Tony, hit me again.
Whoa...
This after last nights movie and the reason I was on the channel in the first place, The Quiet Man, with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara and a very memorable scene where he hauls her through the field. It is kind of amazing what was considered aceptable in different eras.

Any other old movies that took you by surprise?

His hand looks more like he is going to lay down gently and caress.
