I have a question and a bit of a rant.
Lately I have put myself back up on the other side and as a result I have been checking out profiles. OMG, so many people over there state "does not look their age" Or I might know more about the person in the profile and I KNOW they freakkin well look older than the image. Like that guy that someone here posted a warning on, his mugshot was clearly taken a good 10+ yrs after his profile pic here. Or that guy who is scoping out younger women, his age lists not too old, but his image presents as someone about a decade older.
So... I am 58. I will admit I have often stated I look younger. I know I tend to date men who are younger than 58. I don't easily find validity in the wisdom of age BS. I think people are reasonable and logical if they are, it has nothing to do with age.

Anyway, I want to put an image up on THIS side. As an avatar. I want it only here because people on this side read and pay attention. I don't want it over there where anyone might see me. I made a really tiny one, 15.3KB. But when I was in the profile thing I saw it would replace my image all over. And I don't want it on that side! In addition when I try to upload it it says the thing is too big.

What the heck is it with people putting up fake ages, or old pictures? I am trying to put my real image up here and can't.
What am I doing wrong?

I love that. I once met a guy that told me he was 40 because he thought I wouldn't notice the face lift. My other favorite is the "Hi, I'm a passable TV"....when the first thought is "who is the guy in a dress?"

My age isn't fake, but my avatar is old. But, in all honesty I haven't really changed much and I'm not looking for a partner.

There are 2 sections on this side of My Profile that state that uploading an image will replace the current one.
However, if you click on the very first one, it will not affect your profile photo on the other side.
The avatar can be no bigger than 145x145. If for some reason it still won't load, feel free to send
it my way and I'll see if I can fix it for you.

Please make sure you mark the boxes exactly like the image below.

Oh yeah. The first guy I met here about 12 yrs ago told me he was 45. Nice guy but it was very difficult to miss the liver spots. I won't even go into the saggy nipples.

Try this.

Scroll to the top of this page. Hit (My Profile). scroll down a bit, looking in the lefthand column for (My Avatar). Just to the right of that will be a link that says ( Upload my picture (will replace the existing one)), hit it. Navigate to the photo you have prepared by reducing it to 145 x 145 pixels. I have a folder just for these. maybe you should too. Select the photo, upload it, then scroll to the bottom of the page and hit (Apply).

That should do it, if I understood the question.

Edit : for color

Every man I've met in person (3) from collarme, and several I've spoken with but not met, has lied about his age. All have made themselves younger, some by a few years, one by 10. When I asked them why they lied, all said the same thing: women don't message them and rarely respond to their messages when they post an age 50 and above (one said 60 and above). They said it's a very bright line difference.

I overlooked the lie with one person because I like him a lot. But with all, the fact remains that always in the back of my mind is the awareness that they will lie to get what they want.

I thought about putting the age I appear to be rather than the age I am when I set up my profile. But I didn't lie, even though I knew I would get less notice using my true age. I want to meet someone who will eventually become important to me, and I don't want his first experience of me to be that I'm a liar.

I had guys lie about age, height, marital status, weight and hair. Starting out by lying to me was an automatic deal breaker for me, for the very reason you stated.

My avatar and profile pic are the same, and about seven years old. About the only difference between now and then is I have grown a full beard and my hair is a bit grayer. I was tempted to be a prick and load this one:

But that picture was taken when I was 23 years old (and yes, very, very much in the scene).

Time is so unfair....

Indeed it does suck! I would kill to have my 25 yr old self in full belly dance garb, onstage, as my image. lol but that would be soooooooooo cruel.

Nice pic, Missokyst.

Are the ages on our profiles automatically updated?

No. We have to update them ourselves.

Apparently not. I had to update mine just now. And I am feeling a bit too "me" in that pic so it may change a bit.

I admit I told Master I'm going to start telling people I'm 29. I'm 41. On an almost daily basis, I'll be talking to someone and mention something about my adult daughter or something I did twenty years ago and they look at me like I'm crazy and then ask me how old I am. I tell them and it's like their eyes had fallen out from staring at me and saying I look like I'm 25. I'm to the point I stop them mid-sentence. I've had to do this for the past two weeks at my new job every single day I meet a new co-worker.

As for men lying about their age....yup. But it never turns out well. They always look older instead of younger. I've also had younger ones tell me they are older while I'm thinking they look like they're 12.

I admit my photo on the other side is about 10 years old but I like the artsy fartsy look of it and I have no reason to change it. I'm too lazy to take new photos for no good reason whatsoever.
