It's easier to type "scene" that "local BDSM community", Harry. I only know that because one of the dancers I chaperoned was from there.
You are, of course, welcome to use whatever terms you like. My post wasn't so much intended as a critique of yours, more like as an addendum to it.
I developed a strong distaste for the term, "The scene" quite a few years ago when it seemed that almost everyone used it to talk about the community. Lately, I've developed an equal distaste for the the term, "The Lifestyle." I touch-type, so I don't find it too much work to type out "local BDSM community", and do find it is the best term to describe what I'm talking about.
To me, "a scene" is what people who play together have at a play party.
