First, and most importantly, The Doctor returns in "The Bells of Saint John!"

It is the season finale of The Walking Dead!

Game of Thrones Season Four Premiers!

*makes a metric-ton of popcorn and loads all the guns*

"What's with the guns?" I hear you say.

Let's just say that you'd better not knock on the door when The Doctor is on.

I'm so jealous...I don't have HBO, so I won't get to watch the upcoming episodes until much later. Isn't it Season 3 instead of 4, though? If not, I'll need to go back and find Season 3!

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: This will be a good weekend for television. (3/28/2013 8:54:53 PM)

You're right, it's season 3. My bad.

I don't actually have HBO, I am ordering it just for this show. There are always corsairs if you must get your fix.

muhly22222 -> RE: This will be a good weekend for television. (3/28/2013 9:33:32 PM)

And you're forgetting the most important thing of all!

What's that?

The NCAA Tournament, of course! And the best part is that if your team isn't in the picture, you can root for my Ohio State Buckeyes in the Elite 8! [:D]

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: This will be a good weekend for television. (3/28/2013 9:43:04 PM)

NCAA. That's the one with the orange ball, right?

SeekingTrinity -> RE: This will be a good weekend for television. (3/28/2013 9:51:55 PM)

Ugh don't even get me started on March Madness! My bracket just received the mother of all bonings tonight without the benefit of KY.

Michigan State has to beat Duke and Kansas has to beat Michigan or I lose my Sweet 16 bet with my best friend/partner in BDSM "crime" T. I seriously can't lose this bet!

As to the rest, I'm one of those cheap bastards who refuses to pay for TV, so no cable or satellite for me

I don't watch TV either. Lately I've been wondering how much of the cultural experience I'm missing by my boycott of it. Everyone at work keeps talking about zombies; someone said "surround your house with treadmills to thwart the zombies" and everyone laughed hysterically except me, looking stupefied.

ShaharThorne -> RE: This will be a good weekend for television. (3/29/2013 4:48:10 AM)

I am watching the finale of "The Bible" on the History Channel. I have been making Mom watch it instead of her Revenge...

cordeliasub -> RE: This will be a good weekend for television. (3/29/2013 7:43:10 AM)

I am watching the Dr. Who marathon and loving it! Thank goodness for small southern towns who give the county workers Good Friday off :)

I just don't get the whole computer game thing, I don't get the attraction of the whole zombie TV show thing....I'm not hooked into 1965 black and white TV shows, but....I just don't get all the bullllllshit stuff that goes on today in media.

Computer games...I don't get it....I flat fucking don't get it. I can't even imagine doing that sort of thing.

I don't understand why someone is intrigued by computer games....second life....farmville....it makes absolutely no sense to me.

It's entirely beyond my grasp.

It's as if someone walked up to me on the street and said "Hi, how are you?"....and my response was "February".

That's how much sense all that shit makes to me.

I am with you in your Luddite-esque views here. The reason we feel this way, Lookie, is that we're kind of old. When we went to high school, we didn't have internet. Or computers. We had books and paper, did long division by hand rather than calculator. I have used a slide rule in school! (Although not an abacus, thankfully not that old).

For me, CM is my very first online chat thing, the first time I've "spoken" to people online rather than in real life (or "meat" life, as I recently learned :D).

So even though we've managed to keep up with the general public technology, and maybe you are further ahead than that, I think fundamentally we see things differently than the younger generation like Malcolm who presumably played video games growing up.

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: This will be a good weekend for television. (3/29/2013 8:42:14 PM)

OK, first off, I never mentioned video games. I mentioned "Game of Thrones" which is an HBO show.

"The walking Dead" is a zombie show. I figured it would be good for a larf for about to episodes and then fizzle out. Turns out the show is about interpersonal dynamics in a small group under extreme duress. With zombies. The show is brilliantly executed.

"Game of Thrones" is, um, complicated, but even more awesome. Instead of a small group it involves the fate of an entire (albeit fictional) world called Westeros. There are dragons, magicians, kings, queens, princesses, a whole lot of naked women and warriors. Again, it boils down to the fact that the characters (all 394 of them) are fascinating. Describing the plot to you would be impossible in this forum, it is far to complex. It would take less time to explain the theory of relativity than to explain the plot of Game of Thrones. Also, it has zombies too.

As for The Doctor? Well, The Doctor has been awesome for 50 years.

Ya know, the amazing thing is, I absolutely love computers.

Marketing...I'm your guy....if you need leads, I got em....locally and nationally. I bet I spend twenty grand a year on leads....and I use 'em as if I'd spent a million....looooove marketing.

Databases....that would be me as well. I can write a database that would make Larry Ellison's head spin (that's probably a lie but...I love writing databases)... love the basic logic of it. It speaks to me in clear, unrequited love.

Sports? Sporting TV shows.....I swear, I don't get it.

I can tell you before it starts, who's gonna win and who's gonna lose. (Here's the secret: One of them is going to win....the other's gonna lose...happens every gawdamn time).

And when it's over, it's always the same shit....one team is certain they got fucked over, the other, equally as certain they had God on their side.

Video games....you shoot people or, you build a fucking farm or a community or some such...and then some other community comes in (unless you did some kind of good thing which fucked over the "bad" guys) comes in and fucks over your farm, kills your crops and then...in some fashion, you have to purchase coins....

SERIOUSLY....I don't fucking get it.

Now....(not exactly like this)....typing is actually engaging with actual humans but, somehow, in this process, in some way, I feel I'm actually talking to someone.

Over time.

It's not like I actually did anything but....it's also not like I actually did....not a gawdamn fucking thing (either)!

So...there you have it...my opinion on sports, gaming and everything else.

(As to paper....yeah....paper....I like that shit...this here is a nice transitional fix but....yeah, I like paper).

Now.....finance channels, economics, biz, watching the DOW go up and down....makes me hard as a motherfucking piece of granite :)

Well...except in soccer. Draws happen with some regularity in that sport. NOBODY WINS!!!!! [:D]

I'm following Lookie here, because he thinks I don't love him anymore.
And now I read his post, and I love him even more.

Lookie--Eric Bolding on "Cashin' In." My nipples get hard thinking about it.
And Ben Stein on economics? Wet.
