There is nothing in this, other then a dbag trying to prove himself clever. If he thinks the things he is reporting are earth shattering, then he really needs to get out and explore the world and read a little bit. Yes, it has been known for a long time that pleasure and pain trigger the same part of the brain, and that pain through endorphins can be a pleasurable thing, kind of like drugs, plus that our brain can take what is pain and turn it into joy...it is actually part of our survival mechanism. I don't know how pain play will cause the end of the world, though. As far as people getting pleasure out of being miserable, that is as old as the hills. Lot of married people might argue marriage is a classic example of that *lol*. Seriously, how many people do you know who love being the victim? How many people set themselves up for rejection, then wallow when it happens? People love reading stories of cheating wives (one of the most common forms of stories sought out online), they love watching horror movies, 'torture porn' like the saw movies, you name it...people eat white castle hamburgers (that will end human civilization as we know it), they also watch honey boo boo or the "housewives' series (my favorite torture? The shows on the ID cable channel, featuring spouses knocking off the other one, a husband and wife killing her female lover, all this horrible, gory mess)......wallowing in pity is an old, old expression and it is simply human nature. And if you want a real example, find me anyone who isn't comatose who watches "The View" or "The O'Reilly report" who isn't deliberately wallowing in pain and misery.
