I thought about doing this post yesterday. But the Wikipedia page had not been written. Now it has. Here it is.

If you will please recall the invention of the triode tube in 1907, and the changes it made possible. Radio, radar, television and a number of related products and effects. If you will recall the invention of the transistor in 1947 and the changes it enabled. Pocket radios, hearing aids, microchips and a number of related products and effects. We have before us today, literally NOW the third iteration of this event. The first was in Vacuum. The second in Stone. The third is inside a living cell. The invention, the device and its' function is the same in each case. The effect on industry, medicine and on culture is therefor very easy to predict. We have seen it twice before.
I write just to give you a heads up. The World just changed and is now more the same than ever. And I write to mention it is probably not a good idea to bet your retirement funds against the success of this device. (Hint.)
