Why aren't refineries built in Vancouver, Canada to make the need for these pipelines unnecessary? Why aren't pipelines built to the Canadian West Coast to refine the crude and ship it world-wide from there?

The Canadians are smart.

They take advantage of American corporate greed, sell it to them and take the money...not the worries.

The Canadians lack the refineries??

Also, it is easier to ship to Europe from our Gulf Coast???

The currently proposed pipeline poses a serious danger to water reservoirs in the Plains.

The Indians in Canada are in more or less an open revolt over any pipeline across what is left of their lands along with the many open, blatant, and long term violations of the treaties they have with the English conquistadores.

While it doesn't make the corporate Anglo news, Idle No More is a regular feature in the rest of the world press.

Already the Indians have been destroying pipelines in Canada and have promised to destroy more. if their demands are not met by the Ontario based criminals from England. And guarding the many thousands of kilometers of pipe is past the resources of Canada.

Shipping the oil, refined or not east contradicts the wealthy oligarchs in Quebec and Ontario who make great sums importing foreign oil, so that result, though the logical one, is unacceptable to Canada's ruling class.

The United States thus becomes the path of least resistance.

Interesting, I have not seen an you mention Idle No More, or in fact anything regarding Canada's mistreatment of the native peoples, Canada's environmental and social issues and contradictions, or in fact anything about your North American colony.

Best get back to instructing the United States on how to be an English colony, you are minimally competent to do that.

It's all about the money on both sides of the border and especially when it comes to oil.

I know I was a bit flippant about it as of course this is a nasty business conducted by some nasty people and on both sides of the border.

I thought your topic was myself. You certainly have little to say about your great pipeline that nobody in two lands seem to want running either across their district or in principle.

That was my thinking, too. Why foul your own nest when the oil interests in the US are only too happy to take the chance on wrecking our aquifers?
