I clicked it. I had arachnophobia, but it has improved greatly, so I can look at a picture like that without having an anxiety attack.

However, those are the kinds of things that make me want to own a gun. I may not own a gun, but I am a pretty good shot, and that fucking spider is big enough that it would be hard to miss. Although thinking the splat mess it would cause, I think I would just have to move, lol.

Muttling....Zombies are a walk in the park compared to a big fricking spider like that! I can outrun a zombie, that mother can jump!

Those guys are just loving it.

quote:

A large species of tarantula, roughly the size of an adult human face, has been discovered in Sri Lanka.

How can you avoid thinking that when it is exactly what you read?

More photos, here.

Enjoy.

I think it's kinda cool, spiders are interesting creatures.

I actually find the huge hairy ones to be less scary/icky that the little meaty house spiders. I could imagine that one being someone's pet.

That said, I would be alarmed to stumble upon one without warning.

What a cool spider!

I was lucky enough to be able to hold a tarantula the size of my hand once. Damn thing tickled me into a giggling fit when it disappeared up my sleeve! Those hairy legs are...tickly!

I'd seriously like to handle one of these guys though. A spider the size of my face ... man, that's awesome!

Interesting, but I think I like tarantulas better.

And yes, they *do* tickle!

I don't mind spiders much. Or snakes. It is rodents I can't stand. Even rabbits give me the willies.

Oddly enough, spiders don't bother me. We come to an agreement: Eat the insects and I'll leave you alone. So that picture isn't so scary to me at all.

But HOLY HELL as big as one's face? What do Sri Lankans feed their tarantulas?

I've been working on the wife's arachnaphobia since we first came together. She's a lot better now.

That thing could cost us years of progress.

It just looks like a pic of a spider. What makes it "big"?

Doesn't seem like rocket science to put a coke can or tennis ball etc next to it to give it some perspective....

Focus.
