Status: offline 		So, this is not new. But, I've not share it here yet. I was having sex after Xbox. I felt us slipping off the sofa so I knew it was her or me. I positioned my shins and threw her on the floor. That is a lie. Actually, I fell. After sofa sex looking at the camera on the connect. I pulled up the internet and showed them:
DHS see u have sex
DHS Love you long time
Fuck The DHS

Needless to say next time I went to their home. Covering the camera on the kinect was a little sticker :0

Your privacy is a myth, your government is not your friend. Wasn't sure if this was political or not. This is older news. But search FAS/FOIA/FOUO relevant to this - Bam. Stay safe, stay sane and put a sticker on your kids cameras (and your own). If not DHS hackers. Who the fuck thinks they have any remote to even suggest looking into "my" living room.. Sick bastards

Status: offline 		It tells you right out the connect box that the camera is always active. You can actually turn your xbox on just by waving in front of the camera or saying "on" loud enough to register (yes both can be annoying at times). If it bothers you, just cover the mic and camera, or disconnect it completely when not in use

Status: offline 		Disconnecting it is a pain in the ass. No one ever reads the fine print. Well, you and I do - I guess. It is simply an known fact humans typically do not. Sure we can blame them. The most relevant point, despite a typo, is the government wants to spy on us and our children. Using their "toys". They do this to pretend they are protecting us. As I said fuck odd DHS.

I just put a sticker on mine. Even if it is off USB cameras can be accessed. The only work around as you said disconnect it or put a sticker on it. I have reservations and disgust with wanting to spy on adults. But, demographics are readily available on Xbox. Plenty of adults do use it. But, that has never been their target audience. Makes me a bit sick

Status: offline 		As I said, there is no conspiracy as they went overboard in making the fact that it stays on perfectly clear (they wanted to avoid legal issues). It is simply to take advantage of the active on feature, not some clandestine government spy feature. Although, it is comical that the mic picked up our conversation of a particularly bad RE6 player as we watched him get my friend get killed over and over. Only to have him call us losers over his mics when he had had enough then log off. We had quite the laugh when we realized he heard the whole thing over the connect. The pain of unplugging it is something you pay for not having the thing come on every time the word "on" is said, at least for me

Status: offline 		It's amazing how many of us have casually brought the technology for intrusive monitoring into our homes and bedrooms, and even show off the new "toy" when we get it.

I find looking at the camera on the face of my tablet creeps me out just a little, and a corner of a post-it note lives there, but I haven't gotten around to finding a faraday pouch for the phone yet. Of course, our pillowtalk isn't going to trip any keyword detectors, either.

I seriously doubt there is a Department of Homeland Security computer nerd secured somewhere miles underground, stuck monitoring bank upon bank of xbox screens hoping to catch a 12 year old plotting an al queda strike... If there is, I would NEVER want his job. Fact is, no one is looking

I put a physical block across the web cam on my laptop, just in case... It creeped me out to see it right in my face too!

We have a Connect, and I've been slightly creeped out by it since it started moving by itself one day while I dusted the tv table. But that didn't stop me from having sex on the couch last week. If it freaks you out, just face it backwards or downwards, unplug it, sell it, whatever. If the activities in my living room are being monitored by the government, then I say LOL at U government, cause it's pretty boring in there 99% of the time.

It really isn't. It is basically just a USB camera that plugs into an open port so yep you can just pull out the cord just like the ps3 one.

Status: offline 		Just log off the account, unplug the ethernet cable, unplug the XBox or unplug the camera.

Or block the camera, muffle the sound, what have you.

If you don't want to be spied upon then don't be online all the time.

I am reminded of something I was told way back when the internet wasn't accessible to everyone: Don't put anything in an e-mail if you don't want it on the company bulletin board the next day.

I wouldn't worry so much about the XBox Kinnect as I would about the GPS on your phone that can record your conversations and location. You're paranoid, so you did take the battery out of your phone, right? You didn't just turn it off.

Status: offline 		The government has been spying on us since, oh gee, that we've had a government. It's just a fact of life. I keep a bandaid over the camera on my laptop, so if anyone care to hack into this POS to look at me, they'll get a detailed view of a cotton pad. If I'm feeling really paranoid, I toss my cellphone in an old microwave. Acts like a Faraday cage. Other than that, there's little else to do but to fall off the radar totally, and that alone raises red flags.
