LookieNoNookie -> Do you ever wish... (4/5/2013 7:27:40 PM)

....there were times when you could turn back the hands of time?

When you could change what you said....what someone assumed what you meant....even though that isn't what you said (or meant)....aren't there times when you wish you could have turned the tide.....?

(Like....forever?).

All the time. My dad likes to take one or two words out of your sentence, assume he knows what you are trying to say, and answer you based on that assumption, whether you are done talking or not.

Turning the tables, he was once my boss (before he retired), and is now my employee (as a contractor). Finally, I can tell him to stop, and actually listen to what I have to say!!

Muahahahaha......

Well, that was the theory..... It's not turning out that way so much....... We'll see who survives the current project at work......

I try not to think like that, to torture myself like that. As fucking trite as it sounds, I generally regard things as happening or unfolding the way they should, whether I agree with the outcome or not.

We talking wives, girlfriends, and/or fuckbuddies here? Then no. Sometimes you open your mouth, and somehow step on your dick in the process, but done is done, and there might be make-up sex, if you do a good enough patch job.

I'm plain spoken to the point of being blunt (some even say rude) so I haven't had many instances of being misunderstood. There are some events in my life I wish I had handled differently, though. But I try not to drive myself nuts about the past. Instead I try to make sure I don't repeat my mistakes. I make new ones! [sm=modxiiswatching.gif]

~FRing it~

Why did Cher wearing that leather jacket over that bomb ass fishnet lingerie thingie and then straddling the gun barrel on that Navy destroyer instantly come to mind when I read this thread? Oh yeah....if I could turn back time....if I could find a way

But yeah, there are times I wish I could turn back time and uno some of the things I've said or done.

Sure I do. I think everyone does.

But I've come to a place in life where I just trust everything works out exactly as it should, and then I don't worry about it anymore. I could pull out the big stuff and say I wish I hadn't gotten married when I did, or I wish I had learned who I was early, or etc etc etc, but what does that get me? I'm here. Now. Today. What am I gonna do with today?

And for the foot in mouth stuff, well, if I ever feel I shouldn't have said something, I apologize for it and try to make it right. Then it's up to the other guy and out of my hands.

I do the best I can. Sometimes it's awesome and sometimes it sucks, but it's just me. When I screw up, I forgive myself for it. When I do good I applaud myself for it. Mostly, though, I focus on the present. So instead of spending energy regretting something, I figure out what I can take from it to do better tomorrow.

(It's a gift....honestly, I actually don't even know where it comes from, frankly).

Yes, I would go back and tell myself to stay in the Army
