there are alot of us in the uk that couldn't care less that she is dead. i still remember how my family suffered because of what she did to this country. i also remember my grandad being accused of being a scab when he wasn't, and the death threats that brought with it.

i'd like to be able to say RIP, but the feelings i get inside at the above memories when i think of her stop me being able to.

I'm not going to gloat over the fact of her death, obviously she was very important to a lot of people and she lives behind children and grandchildren. However, she did more damage to the UK than anyone since WW2. On a personal level, I'm from Liverpool, my mums family all live in Liverpool, and a lot of them were made jobless - and a few homeless - due to Thatcher. I'm not going to whitewash that just because she is dead, and I completely understand why a lot of people would feel glee at the news.

Good Riddance! I can only hope she died in as much pain and suffering that she caused the general UK populace when she was in power.

I'd like to dance on the bitch's grave but I hate standing in queues ...

It's a pity the fenians missed her back in '87, to be honest.

I always wanted to fuck the dogshit out of Annette Funicello, that is the end of my useful dreams, so sorry her death had to be marred by such massive celebrations.

Like all good medicine there are some who hate it and others who realise the benefits.

Only one of three politicians I have ever had any respect for. The other is the beast of bolsover Mr Skinner ........... and .......... !!!

But like all good medicines if continued to be used for to long then it does harm. Almst the best Priminister of the 20th Century but stayed in office for 2 years to long. She clipped the wings of the Luny left, broke the power of Union Dictatorships, ensured that Democracy arrived in Argentina, contributed to the fall of the Iron Curtain, prevented total mugging of the UK by the EU, allowed millions of lowerr income families the opportunity to but their own houses and invest in shares, was no poodle to the USA, broke the Male Rich Boy control of the Conservative Party (shame they came back) and prevented Foot from becoming Priminister ......... shame she went to far with the Miners, and not understanding that manufacturing had an improtant part in British economy. The desolation of the Industrial North / Scotlan / Merseyside had more to do with inept Union Leaders and Local Militancy than Thatcher .....

I admit that I did admire her back when she was first elected (was 12yo) because she showed me that women can do the same things that men can do. The Queen is second, with Anne McCaffrey (american author) third...

A bit belated... requiescat in pace.

The woman that administered chemotherapy and saved the patient, with all the hell chemo entails, rather than settling for painkillers and letting the patient die.

Excellent summary

Only if you think that chemo was required rather than a minor excision and a dose of radiotherapy.

I've often thought a radical solution was required. We didn't go for 'radical', so we got 'reactionary' instead. Quite a common turn of events in history, I think.

FR~

My dad was a docker. I could have followed in his footsteps as a right under the union rules.
It was bloody hard work and sometimes all hours under the sun (and moon!).
But he did ok and brought our family one peg up from the bottom of the pit.
Mum learnt to drive. We had two cars. We had decent food and lived in a decent house.
That was more than could be said for most of the families living around us.
We were the first in our street to have our own landline phone and for years the pole down the street only had one phone wire on it - ours.
Yes, we did ok - all paid for by my dad's hard work.

Maggie broke the unions.
That meant the negotiated pay rates went out the window and the stevedores undercut the dockers' wages.
My rights to follow my fathers footsteps were wiped out.
Many dockers lost their jobs unless they agreed to severe pay cuts and limited working hours.
Mum had to go to work just to keep up the standards we got used to.
Maggie also slashed the nationalised industries - all the prices rocketted because of greedy private owners.
Many of our industries were scaled down or closed because they were deemed 'unprofitable' by the fat cats.
That said, it enabled my parents to buy their council house and get onto the property ladder.
It also made it easier for me to start my own business and be self-employed; which in turn enabled me to buy my own house.
It also meant I was able to take home £3,000+ per week for my efforts.

I wouldn't want to go back to those 'good old days' where industry was completely ruled by the unions.
But I do wish those in power now had the balls to crack down on the fat cats that are bleeding the rest of us dry.

So for me, Maggie's politics was a damacles sword.
Many suffered and many gained.
The one thing she did though was to completely change the political landscape forever.

Love her or hate her, she was a formidable lady.
But she was rich enough to live in a mansion and for the last 3 months at The Ritz hotel.
She could at least pay for her own fucking funeral instead of it being subsidised by the public purse!!

Just my [sm=2cents.gif]

Which actually would fit right into what has been said about her in the news....she was into privatisation (if I am informed correctly) so it would be good to pay her funeral privately...

just my thought....especially with the current financial problems the UK has...

A lot of people have been thinking that.
Many are absolutely furious at the thought of ten million being blown on planting the sow in the middle of this "austerity" shit, so a few alternative burial plans have been suggested.
