Ironbear, I like your solution. I've a semi-race camshaft for a 350 Chevy that is not quite as good as a gun, but not bad. There is one problem with these things, you can't be home all the time.
A few years ago we got robbed, of all things of our drop piece. If we were home they would be in posession of that cheapo Raven automatic, clutching it in their cold dead fingers. Instead they probably traded it for some crack. This was a quickie daytime job, all they took was the gun. Wouldn't have noticed but for the broken tub surround in the downstairs bathroom. They missed over a thousand in currency and hundreds in coins. They missed the Browning shotgun worth 20 times what the Raven was worth.
A couple of years earlier my nextdoor neighbor gor robbed, of a playstation only. Probably the same idiots, probably kids. In his case they passed up thousands of dollars worth of guitars and band equipment.
That's nothing compared to about 20 years ago when I really got robbed. Even my guitar. It was finally in tune. My stereo, the stereo that got the cops from an adjacent city to come. It taught me a very valuable lesson though. Not what you think.
See I used to steal a very long time ago. When I got robbed I stopped. That's when I realized that there was more to it than money. Trust is now more important than money to me, and the people who robbed you, I hope they get to this point in their life. The guilt never goes away, ever. It's like when someone dies, it doesn't go away, you just get used to it. When you do something dishonorable, you pay for it whether you get caught or not.
Let's hope something happens to your robbers, that they get robbed. Something they did not steal, a family heirloom will do. Something they can't replace, would give a big reward fo it's return, something near and dear to them. Let's hope that item is made of metal and gets scrapped, melted down and made into part of a new Toyota. Serves them right.
Either that or get Ironbear to move in.

PS; Ironbear, just how many times can a robber accidentally slam his face into a doorjamb ? Did he mention how good it felt when you stopped him from this destructive behavior ? Did you mention how hard it is to change a doorjamb and he should be careful not to damage it ? Really he should learn not to chip the paint off, too many coats of paint and the door might stick.
Now that I mentioned it, I just remembered a porn tape I had a long time ago where a robber was caught by dominants. Now that would be fun, and they have not set any limits :-). Want to do something your mate doesn't like, try it on the robber ! "See honey he survived it", "No he didn't", "But that's because I shot him, I just won't shoot you", "OK then". You can't turn a losing situation into a winning situation without lateral thinking.
